Roo - Veterinary Relief

I was really excited when I found this app. I am currently in school to get my LVT and to become a licensed tech. When I was reading about Roo it looked like there were relief shifts available for veterinary technicians as well as veterinary assistants. When I went to sign up and create my account, the Roo app wouldn’t let me move forward without selecting one of the credentials. I do not have my LVT/CVT/RVT yet, nor am I a VTS. In Texas you can be a veterinary technician without being licensed or credentialed. I think it would be great if there was an option for students to select that they don’t have their credentials yet. I’m also confused how Roo can say that there are veterinary assistant shifts available when veterinary assistants have their own set of credentials (if they have obtained any at all), all of which were not listed as options to choose. Please make this app more accessible to every veterinary professional.

Several months ago I joined the Roo team just to see what was out there and maybe make some extra money if the “right” shift became available. I browsed the shifts occasionally but never requested any. Then I got laid off. Having an immediate option to continue earning money was wonderful. It took away all the stress of losing my job. I’ve done three shifts so far and it’s been amazing. All the little stressful details of finding relief shifts are already taken care of, so all I have to do is go out and be a good doctor. Hospital staff has been so grateful to me for filling shifts, keeping their doors open so that they can come to work and earn a paycheck, so I’ve not seen any unfriendly employees so far. And I’m making a lot more money than I have ever earned per shift, even though I’m careful to save some of it for taxes. So far I’ve signed up for a total of 9 shifts, and will be able to easily pay my bills for another two months. I am considering doing relief work long term now. I will definitely never again consider taking a regular job that isn’t a good fit for me because bills needto be paid.

What a great idea for an app and company! I found this app very convenient to use while on the road. I still prefer to use the website version as I can have my personal schedule open side by side while signing up for things, but this is great for double checking things. Overall have been very happy with my roo shifts and have gotten paid quickly and can easily ask for overtime payment and leave feedback if needed. Would recommend.
