There are good things about this. I enjoy the custom meal plans but the questionnaire at first is confusing. I like the meals/snacks which include the portion sizes, ingredients, time to cook/prep and pictures for reference. I do like that it breaks it down into weekly/daily meals. The shopping list features can be helpful. However, the meals are kind of all over the place and like others mentioned it feels like you are shopping for so many different things. I wish they would at least keep the same ingredients for the week and use that to make a variety of meals. For example: eggs with avocado/ toast, omelette, poached egg and salad. That would be easier and more affordable to shop. I don’t think I should be the one making all these changes if the point of me having a subscription is to facilitate these things on my behalf. I feel like I’m doing most of the work here. The ebook is what I was most excited about. Unfortunately I was greatly disappointed going into my second month of my 6 month subscription and I find out the ebook is ONLY for the first 28 meal and DO NOT offer a revised edition with each consecutive month based on your meal modification. I don’t use the app much since I take down notes in my ebook so not having the ability to get an ebook each month is very disappointing. The advertising is not clear that it’s only a single ebook for the first 4 weeks. Needless to say, I will not be renewing my subscription.
I have been using Beyond Body for about 3-4 weeks. I say 3-4 as 1 week I was traveling for work and, obviously, didn’t cook at the hotel. If I go out or make something for a special occasion, I can’t add what I actually ate… even if it isn’t on the plan. It would be helpful to be able to do that. If I change a meal for another option the data isn’t reflected in the shopping list. I am also making the dinners for 4-6 people as I am not making 2 meals for my whole family. We all eat the same thing for dinner. It would be helpful to have the shopping list reflect that as an option/meal. Currently, I add everything to a spreadsheet and place my grocery order based on that taking 4 or more hours. Lastly, I have been surprised at how good some of these meals are and I am losing weight and feeling better! I do not like that the ingredients are so varied that I’ve doubled my grocery spending to almost $300/week or more. That is not reasonable for me. I don’t need to buy a whole thing of almond milk or coconut milk for 1 or 2 meals, then see it wasted as I didn’t touch it again. My refrigerator isn’t big enough for the 6 types of milk, 5 berries, 3 different lettuces, 3 onion types, not to mention 7 oils, etc etc etc. I love that everything is varied, but some things could be consistent to save the customer $ and frustration.
I gave this a 3 star because I really do think there could be improvement. When making the shopping list there isn’t a lot of combining recipes. Another thing that is an issue is some things are not included into the items required list but then is in the recipe. For example today I made a steak and rice dish that the only ingredients listed were steak, bell pepper, olive oil, wild rice, and black sesame seeds but when I got to the instructions it stated to also add garlic, ginger, and soy sauce. I had soy sauce and garlic already at home but I didn’t have ginger so this is really annoying to me. Also I know they are trying to be as accurate as possible with measurements which I appreciate but I wish the unit process was better. Like I had a recipe that asked for a bagel and instead of saying 1 bagel it said the amount in grams. I don’t have a scale yet I just ordered one so it makes it hard to order ahead of time because I’m not carrying around a scale everywhere I go and it makes it hard to get meat since it’s all measured in the stores by the pound. Another thing is there are certain things I just don’t eat. Such as Greek yogurt and in 3 days so far they have had yogurt as a snack and I can’t change it. So instead I have to skip it and I can’t edit my preferences after I created my account.
