The CMX app is one of the most frustrating movie-going tools I’ve used. Credit card transactions frequently fail, seat selection often doesn’t work, and the app runs painfully slow. It regularly displays irrelevant theaters far outside your area, making it far too easy to accidentally book at the wrong location. Adding to the headache: it doesn’t integrate with Apple Wallet, so when you arrive at the theater, you’re stuck digging through the sluggish app just to show your ticket. It also doesn’t sync your movie to your calendar—basic functionality that every other ticketing app seems to get right. Worst of all? Tickets are often more expensive through the CMX app than on third-party sites like Fandango. There’s absolutely no reason to use it in its current state. Unacceptable.

Very appealing black background and nice font finish. However my credit card at this point into 2025 needs to automatically link to appl pay and not have me look for my physical card at home. Type 25-30 numbers. Why are we fancy in all the aspects but not where the experience matters and it requires work

This is one of the worst apps I’ve ever used. It is particularly terrible for selecting movie tickets, but in general, it’s a poorly designed app. The user interface is clunky. It doesn’t seem to be designed for mobile. It doesn’t seem like it was designed by anyone with any experience making apps. It’s very easy to understand why Fandango gets away with high convenience fees – they are the best app for finding and purchasing movie tickets. And this app is why the Fandango app exists: you’ll get so frustrated trying to use this one that you abandoned it and go to theirs. It’s not just the app when you get to the theater there is another horrible experience at their kiosk. It’s all just very mind blowing how difficult and poorly designed their technology is. I have found another theater that I go to. And this app is a big part of that reason.
