This was poor execution on the company's part. Hundreds of churches use this app. No warning or email was sent to users about the new update. So, on Sunday, it caused major issues for people. No video on how the new format works. The touch screen options are frozen half the time now. Next time please test and fix the bugs before rolling out an upgrade. For those who are still struggling with this app. I’ve tested another app called MXBus. It synced up perfectly to the X32. It cost 3 dollars for the advanced features. It’s way easier to navigate and you have EQ options. Plus for those who use an iPad. One button by tapping up or down will move your entire mix up or down. The channels are split into two groups now. So you don’t have to scroll endlessly to get to your other channels. And you can customize what channels you want per mix bus. Until they fix this app. We are moving on to MXBus.
This “update” represents a big step backward. 3 most prominent issues - 1) It does not have a way to prevent the app/phone from “sleeping” (closing screen) and if it does close automatically, the connection is usually lost, requiring the user to re-enter the IP address manually (as a side effect, I now have the IP address fully memorized). 2) The VU meters are gone! When adjusting the in-ear mix, it was very helpful to see the levels associated with each channel, especially when tracking down stray noise, feedback, 60 cycle hum. Please bring them back! 3) The “pages” are gone in favor of a continuous scrolling motif - which is more difficult to use while playing. I need to be able to touch the screen very briefly while playing my instrument and have it change. 4) Putting the master volume (Send) on the front page all of the time is a waste of precious real estate. The master volume is a set once and leave item. 5) If I click on the WiFi icon it should bring me to the page where I could connect to a different rack but not disconnect me from the one I am currently connected to. 6) It is difficult to hit the part of the screen that allows scrolling to the side. It is easy to accidentally pan a channel into one ear in the process of attempting this. This update has cost our church worship team significant time and frustration. How we wish we could roll back the update!
I am really liking the functionality of this app. It’s great that I can grant access to the monitor mixes coming out of our XR18 mixer without risking somebody in the band going out and jacking with the Main Mix! I have not experienced any drops, and I’ve only seen the normal/expected amount of latency. I’m not looking for a “full featured mixer app”... The mixer manufacturer (Behringer) has that already... I’m the Lead Guitar player in a band that doesn’t regularly employ a dedicated sound engineer (for typical smaller gigs anyway). So I have to act as the “sound guy”. This app gives me the freedom to take a “fix it yourself” attitude when another band member asks for “more me” in his monitor. It frees me up to take care of the main mix (and my own monitor) without the chance of anyone else screwing up the main mix on accident. Best part... the price is right, and much appreciated! This is a really great tool!
