Prime MultiTrack App

Basically, Prime saved my ministry. I was previously (poorly) using Ableton Live because that’s what I was trained on before our previous two worship leaders moved on to other endeavors. I had no idea what I was doing, and I had heavy anxiety every single weekend because I had no idea how to fix anything if it went wrong. I switched my team over to Prime, and we have not had a single problem since. It’s so user friendly and it has ALWAYS worked for us 100%. (And finally I can actually take a vacation and be confident that my team is well equipped and will do just fine while I’m gone because the interface is so uncomplicated, they all know how to use it!) Plus, they’re always adding such cool features that make it even more easy to use. Because of Prime, we’re able to do whatever music we want, because we aren’t limited by clunky programs that crash, expensive tracks, or even instruments that we don’t have! This made worship during the summertime when my scheduling was super thin due to team members being on vacation way less scary. I can’t say enough good things. I have done trainings and demonstrations for other worship leaders in my town because I am so passionate about Prime. I’ve even converted some hardcore Ableton users. Also, the Prime/Loop team is absolutely amazing. They are so quick to jump on and help you if you have questions. They care about your individual church, no matter the size, budget, etc. and they want to see the local church succeed with excellence in music. I love it.

This has been a great way for our church to enhance our sound and stay tight to a click. We use it both on iPhone and Mac, and in the Mac we use a looptimus stop box to control basic things like looping a section, fading out, and starting the next song. Some of the other features like being able to route the audio to an audio interface id love to be able to do. If you buy tracks, the biggest challenge I’ve noticed is that there isn’t consistent leveling song to song. So I use soundflower to create a midi multi output (built in on Mac) and then I can listen and level out each tracks parts by soloing those parts and watching a level meter in something like Studio one or probably any DAW. I usually level to the bass part first, then the drums and then make sure I set each track to overall not exceed a certain value, for us -12 dB typically works. The important part is that the volume isn’t changing a lot between tracks because that effects in ear mixes and creates a headache for the sound guy. If we could route the audio out to separate channels with an audio interface (which the app supports), this would probably be easier. Overall love this app and integral to our worship service each week!

I’ve been using Prime for a few years now and all I can say is amazing. It is a vital tool that I use every week at our church. We are a church with only a piano. Prime provides for us the ability to do music we simply couldn’t without a band, and that is no small feat. From multitracks to split tracks. Being able to control the volume of every track or even muting it completely. Transposing the key, changing the tempo and adjusting the master volume. Now with the ability to cross fade and overlap between tracks it’s perfect. Cross fading and overlapping songs is something I have had to do manually for a long time. Editing songs together and then uploading them as one takes a huge amount of time but I did it because musically it sounds the best, is more professional and makes the service flow more. Last Sunday I used this new feature to overlap two songs together and it worked perfectly! I couldn’t tell you how much time this is going to save me or how excited I am about these new features. All I can say is thank you to the team who have made this app and all its features possible. I can’t even name all the features I use, not even mentioning the site and all the great things it provides and makes possible, but I can say that this app is invaluable to me and I’m extremely thankful for it.
