Fantastic

I genuinely can not rate this app highly enough. Finally an food app that actually caters to my needs and not one that is forcing me to sell my soul. No subscription to pay and no commitments to have to put up with sub standard ingredients. I can get loads of recipes and go shop myself for the ingredients or choose where i want to buy my ingredients from. Today i made recipe and only needed a couple of ingredients so got them from a local shop. This app is an absolute game changer who h will change the way i eat.

Bad UX

Such a cool concept, but the actual app is horrifyingly bad. Needs a serious UX professional to have a look at it. Barely usable. For example, there’s no way to review which recipes you’ve selected apart from in a little row when you go to see your basket. That’s not ideal, but add to that that the swipe functionality across the row, to view more than four recipes at a time, either isn’t there or isn’t working, and I have to remove meals and add again to see what I’ve picked. If I’ve selected too many or too few servings of a particular recipe, there’s no way to change numbers of servings without removing the recipe altogether, searching for it, and adding again from scratch. Why isn’t there a way to filter recipes by ease of prep, world cuisine, or cook time (for this one you can only use ‘sort’)? I understand that maybe you think users will value how the app forces them to be open minded and try new things, but why should a newbie user have to swipe past 20 recipes categorised as ‘hard’ in order to find something they can make? Why can’t users even filter by meal - i.e. breakfast, lunch, dinner recipes? Why isn’t there at least the option to see a few alternatives to the ingredients selected by the app at the basket stage? I found a great recipe, which happened to use vegan cheese. I’d much prefer normal cheese, but there was no functionality in order to pick that. I imagine I would’ve been allowed to change it at the supermarket website check out stage, but why should I have to find a workaround for a really simple problem on a *paid* app? I understand the desire for simplicity but this goes way beyond that. I think maybe the designers conflated simplicity and ease of use ?

The missing piece in a crowded market

I’ve been searching for an App that will allow me to live a better, more healthy lifestyle but cannot tell you how hard it is using one app for calorie tracking, another app to find healthy recipients, a third app to order food and ingredients from, and a fourth to track my progress - it’s impossible! Enter this app, a magical combination of everything I need to live the lifestyle I’ve been looking for. I have set my goal to weight loss, vegetarian (I’m trying to eat less meat) and I’m presenting with a huge range of recipes that within a few taps, can be ordered straight from Tesco - amazing! Better yet, all my meals are in one place so monitoring my calories is super easy and the levelling system allows me to keep my motivated to track my progress against my goal. Changing your diet and lifestyle is tough. Learning new recipes, tracking calories is so much life admin which this app completely takes care off. Life changing. Looking forward to how this develops.
