Mercury Cards

I have several credit cards through various credit companies. Since dealing with Mercury my card has been frozen. This is the first and only time a company has done this. I call because I have a few grand still available to make purchases with and have not been notified that my account had been frozen. Upon calling the representative tells me they indeed froze my account for suspicious activities. I ask the representative what that means because I check my account app daily to maintain an accurate record of my transactions and to know which have posted. The representative tells me that the suspicious activity is several payments made on my account consecutively within a period over 10days. She asked me to verify that I did indeed make these payments. I had so I verified. Then she asks me why I use my card and make payments so quickly. I do not carry cash on me because I am required to travel so even receipts are easier to keep if its on a credit card statement. I don’t feel that I should have to explain why I use my card frequently nor should I have to explain why I make payments when I do. Im very upset that having good payment history or using my card within the already approved credit limit should cause the company to freeze my card, even more angry that I wasn’t notified before hand! I will continue to do business with them but only for the reason of needing a variety of creditors for my credit portfolio. If you prefer using a card often or are building your credit and plan on paying the card off quickly I don’t recommend this company.

Load time is fast. First screen shows all the information you need without having to tap or go to a menu to reach a second screen. Also like the multiple payment option which favorably effects your credit score. I have a few credit cards with their apps and this one works better than most. I prefer paperless and I’m able to see everything I need to on the app. On transactions you can filter and get to the information you need and maybe one feature I’d add to the app would be to have the ability to send the filtered transaction data to my email in CSV or excel format for expense forms. I’m sure that feature is available on the website but I mostly use the app.

I never write reviews for apps or anything but when I went to update this app I saw all the bad reviews on Apple, and thought that I needed to share some input because the reviews literally blew my mind- On the subject of the app- ALL apps go through updates. Discovery, Capital one, Bank of America, the list goes on and on. People complaining about the update? That’s just stupid. The update is clean, modern, and really not much different than the prior version. On the subject of the credit card- honestly there’s a lot of you on this review page that wrote about how it’s a beginner card, you don’t get increases, they don’t protect you from fraud, they won’t cancel a transaction that my irresponsible self allowed to occur by allowing my child access to my card,…list goes on and on I started with a $500 credit limit a YEAR ago and since then have had two increases. I have also a $4000 limit right now. This card sends me alerts when theirs a fraudulent transaction and has processed refunds with no issue on legitimate fraud transactions. It’s a great starter card for people who were irresponsible in the past and messed up their credit, and if you’ve learned from your irresponsibility, then you will have zero issues with this card. Clearly the people writing reviews are the complete opposite. I wouldn’t recommend this to a teenager as a started card as it doesn’t much incentives to sign up, nor any large percentage back on your purchases Lastly- customer service is great & I’ve had no issues with making my payments on the app.
