Here’s the thing, you have to tinker to line up the projector. And your phone needs to be charged - lol. But, this is a great way for us to pack like 20 ‘books’ when we travel, and my daughter loves the stories on the wall or ceiling. So why not five stars from me? It’s hard to look up your books, the UI is not great. I have to look at the reel and match up the pictures. Kind of annoying- but, again, daughter loves the stories. It would also be cool if there were more background music options, or an option to play your own. Also, some of the sound effects in the books that are highlighted play too quietly and some play too loudly. It would be nice to configure them manually somehow. Some are loud for bed time, some she can’t hear at all. As for updates that might be cool? A narration option might be cool. Someone reading the books would allow my daughter to interact with them by herself. This might also require a strap or band to better secure it to my devices, which would be another revenue source. I would also like to buy the reels without the projectors - but struggle to find them that way.
Okay, I’m putting my initial negative review below. This is my positive review: My son LOVES this. He has a very active imagination. He also loves to tinker AND play with flashlights. So if that sounds like your kiddo, I bet they’ll love it. I got this for my son’s 3rd birthday, and he loved it! I had issues (stayed below). Within a few days of posting a review about the issues, I was contacted my Moonlite with a solution. I’m so glad I got distracted and hadn’t started the return. Tentatively, we are back on track. I’m updating from a 1 to a 5 star. I’ll continue to try to use this and give a more in-depth review later. Older, negative review: Y’all. I wanted this to work SOOO badly. For the one time that it worked, my 3 yo boy LOVED it. We played with it for an hour straight. That night, the app kept crashing. The next day, it crashed AND made the light on my phone be very dim. Yes, there’s a spot where, theoretically, you can dim and brighten, but it won’t work. I uninstalled and re-installed. Nothing. Still dim, still crashes. I still want it to work, but I’m not going to just call it a $40 loss. I’m going to send my Moonlites back.
I ordered it last week, got it today. My kid was very excited and wanted to get to reading them immediately. I really do like the idea of using a projector to read books but it’s hard to get it to align perfectly with the light. It’s blurry and it bugs me so much that I have to stop and try to get it into focus more, which just makes my kid start to get distracted. I’d like it a little better if we could somehow plug in the projector to the phone and sync it and already have a light built it the projector instead of having to rely on the phone light. I could set it on the table and it’d be nice if there was a button or something like on the old toys to get the reel to move to the next slide. Still gonna use it though. More languages would be nice too. Like Spanish.
