My only wish is that Elmo had more songs. Little kids tend to like music. Aside from that, the app itself works exactly as advertised. Another reviewer said you need to download the app off wifi? Completely untrue. You also do NOT need the largest capacity iPhone for the app to function and connect with Elmo. If you have tried connecting via Bluetooth in the app, followed the instructions, and it's still not connecting, try replacing Elmo's batteries. He drops connection or fails to connect with low batteries. (As an aside, battery life on Elmo is great for a toy like this!) I've had 3 Elmos now, connected on 4 different Apple devices of varying ages, not a single problem. Super cute toy, very pleased!
I love the toy and all of its intentions. Not to mention that my daughter adores Elmo. My main issue is with the Bluetooth. It connects (sometimes with issues). It also disconnects frequently during while using parent helpers. Right now, I'm trying to utilize "lullaby mode", and it disconnects while asking my daughter if she's sleepy. Then, Elmo goes right back to talking. It would also be nice to have more parent helpers, but I think the Bluetooth is the main issue. I have seen it mentioned that phone storage is causing issue, and that is not the case. I have a 256 GB 7+ with plenty of storage remaining. Edit: I've seen major improvements by just replacing the batteries. I've noticed that when the lullaby mode turns off that the batteries are getting low. No other issue. More parent helpers and games would be awesome.
So I love it! My 1 1/2 year old is thrilled and it works JUST as advertised. I was so concerned reading all the 1 star reviews! So I think I figured out most people's main problem. Storage on your devise. Having the new iPhone 7 Plus and seeing a review about it not working for the same devise really concerned me! But I have the largest storage capacity available for this devise; 256GB storage, had to custom order it due to my photo/video storage demands. It did take a long time to load even on my AT&T LTE data. But once it did, I never encountered a problem, not one hiccup! The app runs smoothly and as described, I could customize everything and it said my daughters unique name perfectly. It even played all the games with no issue. I highly recommend checking your devises storage capabilities and downloading the app initially on your data NOT wifi. If you don't have a larger storage phone, use an iPad with wifi and data capabilities. I would think making this app smaller for every day users would be more ideal for everyone involved. Would also like a way to turn off his talking capabilities from my phone and not just the toggle switch on his back. He seems to talk endlessly even when left alone in a room with no activity.
