The conclusion is that FreshGoGo is great in most small cities, suburbs and rural areas where access to Asian food are limited. The biggest advantage lies in the great varieties of their grocery/condiment/Chinese restaurant selections. As someone who cooks Chinese food regularly, I can almost find everything from FreshGoGo. If you are interested in some rare Chinese/Asian produce, snacks, or dishes, you can get a regular supply from them as well. Granted, sometimes, some produce are not fresh, like 1 out of 10 times I ordered. But you can always get that part refunded. Last year, their delivery schedules and text reminder system went through some hectics. Both bothered me a bit. This year, there is some leakage (AC water I assume) in their freezer truck. Nothing of mine really got damaged. But it was not a pleasant experience. However, ultimately, the access to the huge selection of Chinese food wins me over as a long term customer in upper state New York where they do not yet have a competitor. I order at least twice a month for almost a year now.
When the Covid-19 started last April, we were so afraid to go to supermarket or grocery store to shop, one of my friend told me that she uses this online grocery delivery app and recommend me to try. The min order was $20 so why not ! There are lot of selections, vegetable, meat, seafood, snacks, drinks and restaurant food from flushing. I was very surprised there are many selections to choose from, I placed my first order with nearly $200. I received my first order around 11pm, a little later then I expected, however giving that we were at the difficult time, just happy that I was able to receive food without leaving the house. I unpacked my order and there were several items missing, I contacted the customer service, it took 2 days to reply however they were able to give me the credit for the missing item to use for future purchase. Overall experience was ok, I been using their service since, easier for me than going to supermarket.
I have placed a few orders from FreshGoGo and my experience has been bad. First, they deliver super late. I had to wait until 1am to get the package. Second, they give you the worst kind of fresh fruit. I bought some mangosteen and more than half of them have gone bad an not edible upon arrival. Most importantly, what really turned me off and made me swear I would never order from the ever again, is that I placed a bunch of restaurant made food as well as fresh ingredients for Chinese New Year eve. I specially set a delivery date one day before I planned to cook. I first received a message saying the food is being packed. Then I got a message saying due to increasing order volume they are pushing my order to the next day, the Chinese New Year day! I was furious because this means My family and I wouldn’t be able to enjoy a new year meal we had planned. What’s worst is their customer service. I expressed my concern and asked them to make it happen as the originally planned date, and I can accept some items being out of stock. They first apologized and offered coupons, then they just keep saying they can’t make it happen. I asked about delivery time if it has to be the next day, they can’t promise anything either. Just robotic responses that they can’t make it happen today. Lastly they just closed my chat, and when I initiated a new conversation asking for cancellation of the order, no one even respond to me. I eventually got it canceled and rest assured I won’t order from them ever again. They over advertised this New Year’s Eve concept and it’s a typical overpromise and underdeliver.
