Difficult to do on your own . Perhaps somewhere in the instructions it should say have another person take the pictures. Other than that, I feel comfortable and hope that I will hear from someone soon regarding photos and skin exam. I would recommend this to my friends and family.

With a family history of skin cancer, I know I’m supposed to get annual skin exams. But the dermatologists I called for an appointment couldn’t see me for 4 or even 6 months. Luckily my employer just started offering SkinIO as a new benefit. I was able to do my skin screening at home with the app in about 15 minutes. I got an email the next day saying that based on my photos, the doctor that looked at them recommended that I go see a dermatologist in person. I was frustrated because I know how long that would take to be seen. Then someone from SkinIO called me and said they have a dermatologist near me that could see me within 3 weeks! I was so relieved that they offer that referral as part of their service. I made an appointment and will be going in next week. I’m so glad I will be seen so quickly and they take my insurance. Very happy with my SkinIO experience.

A few weeks before my 39th birthday I went in to have a spot looked at (thanks to my wife). Several days later I received a phone call from the dermatologist. The biopsy came back positive for melanoma. They took a chunk out of my arm and removed some lymph nodes. Tests showed it was 1A and it hadn’t spread. Thankfully they caught it early. I’m now seeing my dermatologist every 3 months. I know they are trained to spot skin cancer but having technology like SkinIO as a second pair of eyes gives me peace of mind that I’m doing everything I can to monitor my skin. If I had something as convenient and affordable as this before, I would have started checking my skin a long time ago.
