KY3 News

KY3 is my go to source for news in the region, but the app has now been updated to the point where the advertisements are overwhelming the news value. The advertisement links are so sensitive you can’t scroll on the screen without accidentally opening one. Even when you haven’t opened an advertisement others on the page start running at full volume I’m sure that increases the station revenue, but when it increases my frustration, I leave the app quicker than I would have.

The KY3 app is a great source for local Ozarks news, sports, and accurate weather forecasts. I use it several times a day. The audio weather alerts are especially valuable in these hills. I would give this app five stars if there weren’t so many advertisements on the display throughout the pages of the app. I would gladly pay a few bucks for the app without ads. NOT A SUBSCRIPTION, but a one time charge.

This is much better than the previous version, but the ad that pops up over the whole screen immediately on opening is too much. Do you really need a 5 second ad in addition to all of the ads in there regular news feed? I will be deleting and reading local news from a different source. Latest version is a huge battery drain. Reading two stories makes by battery drop 20%. Edit: the return of the ad on the splash screen has done it. I have deleted and switched to a different local news provider who still had plenty of ads in their app but are not nearly as intrusive.
