My wife was driving in a state other than our own. She was visiting an old friend and returning home when she had a major accident. The first thing she did was to call me. She was scared and hurt. She called me before anyone even approached her car. Within seconds of answering her call I heard the HUM Customer Care person come over the HUM device and said they have received an indication that the vehicle was in a wrack. My wife answered she was. The operator asked if she was hurt. She answered she was. The HUM operator immediately contacted emergency services and gave her location on the Interstate she was driving on and described to them the injuries my wife had indicated she was suffering. The Operator than asked my wife if she should call her listed emergency contact. In this case I was already on her cell phone listening in. Within a minute (really) I heard the sirens and the operator told my wife those were for her. The emergency responders were speaking to her very quickly after that. They learned that she had me on the phone and gave me directions to where they were taking her. I could not be more grateful to both the HUM system and the staff behind it and the emergency responders. Keep up the good work HUM and THANK YOU!
I got the HUM for free as an add on to getting the Gizmo for my 9 year old and was just like “whatever” about the HUM because it allowed me to get the Gizmo for free. We’ve had a baby in the NICU the last 74 days which also happens to be an hour from our actual home (I mention this because having a baby in the NICU any amount of time is extremely expensive so funds are more than tight especially since I we decided I won’t work while out baby is in the NICU) and this morning I finally decided to install the HUM into the car and then BAM on the way home in almost 100 degree weather our alternator goes out we are stranded on the side of the highway like 7 miles from home. HUM rep got all our info and after 30 minutes we were towed home FOR FREE... we called two other shops before I finally said “let me call HUM” one wanted $70 to tow 7 miles plus a $75 hook up fee 😳 TOTALLY WORTH THE $15 a month!
I bought the Hum originally to put in my elderly parents car, just as a safety feature so we would know where they are when they disappear in their car, not to restrict, but just to make sure we know where we can find them if they get into trouble. It worked so well in their car, I purchased another to place in Dad’s pickup. A few weeks ago, I was tracking their way home from visiting my sister in another state. They got within 10 miles of home when I noticed that they were parked on an exit...? I tracked a few more times to see if the app was behind their actual movement. When I changed to satellite view it looked like they were parked in a stand of trees right off the exit, so my husband and I decided to go check it out. When we got there and saw 8-10 emergency vehicles with lights flashing, my heart about popped out of my chest! Sure enough, there was a crash and their car was right in the middle of the clump of trees! The Hum led us right to them before anyone had a chance to notify us of the crash. The device and app are priceless to me. Well worth the purchase price, knowing they will have safety features in place wherever they go.
