I have been using this app since the beginning and it is powerful and it has improved in many ways over the years. The customer chat function is a bit difficult to use. It would be better if this chatting did not require constant re-logging on.
HSBC has the worst app and online service. I don’t understand how its rating is 4.7 while most of the ratings given by users were 1 or 2 stars. When you login your account online or on their mobile app, there are only two things you can do - either transfer or make a deposit. I believe most people login to their account would want to see their account balance and transaction details first, even they make transfers, they would still want to know their account balance first, but HSBC just hide these information. It always takes me some time to find out my account detail. Also, even you get to the transaction details, it only shows you the transaction from the last statement. How stupid it is!!! Why does HSBC think their clients have no need to check their account details, only transfer or deposit money when they login?
Advice for expats/people who live/moving overseas, do yourselves a favor...close your account, and jump ship to CitiBank...HSBC HK app, website, banking is straight up garbage when compared to other banks/banking app. First is the log-in process, which always require you to answer your question, fine. Then on to your password...what is the 4th/6th, and last letter of your password? Or 1st/5th/second to the last...it’s like pulling hair just to access your own money. Second thing is the the process to reactivate a dormant account. HSBC in Hong Kong requires little calculator looking device to sign-in...I understand you can switch it to a mobile device security, BUT you need the physical device to switch over to the mobile phone security device. Once your account is dormant, you can’t even update your phone number/email without that calculator...okay, only you can snail mail a form from overseas...it’s been over a month since I mailed my form, and still haven’t heard anything back yet. Yeah, do yourself a favor go to a different bank. Last time I was in HK, I wasted 3 hours in the Yuen Long branch just to reactivate account/get cash out.
