Helcim: Point of Sale

I started using Helcim and the concept was great in theory but then they started holding my funds and the amount of paperwork and headaches they continuously require makes it just not worth it! If they require knowing what kind of risk you pose to them, then they should disclose this up front and require this BEFORE you use the app. Instead, they waited until I used their platform, thinking it was a reliable way to invoice my clients with the selling point of passing off fees to customers. So I sent the invoice, the client paid, and then Helcim held my funds I very much needed to pay my staff and operate my business for over 2 weeks! After holding my feet to the fire, I provided paperwork, bank statements, and information they required and finally got the funds released. Thinking this was a one time thing, I went to use the app again. Now they are requiring even more compliance paperwork and protocol to continue use using the app! Again, this should be disclosed up front, but instead they get you to use the app then hit us with these things holding our funds hostage and draining our time and productivity. Such a headache and consistently unreliable. I will just add on the processing fee in my invoice moving forward and remove this awful company from being a very unnecessary middleman.

So far, so good with Helcim - app and card processing “block” are both easy to use and have had zero issues so far. Their rates are way better than what I had been used to and that’s definitely a win as I’m a small business and every dollar counts. Only two issues (small ones) are: 1) it takes a bit longer to see funds deposited than what I was used to; and, 2) when using the processing “block” (as I like to call it) there isn’t an option to tip a specific dollar amount - only % options. That has ended up costing me in some cases.

“My experience with Helcim has been extremely disappointing. Despite their claims to help grow businesses, my interaction with them has only served to cripple my operations. Their customer service is abysmal, as evidenced by a three-hour wait time for a response to a pressing issue. Even after requesting a return phone call, I received no such courtesy. To make matters worse, Helcim failed to process a significant $24,000 transaction and did not inform me directly. Instead, I received an email notification, which is wholly inadequate for someone processing substantial transactions. As a high-volume merchant, I expect more proactive and efficient communication, especially considering I had explicitly informed them of the nature and volume of my business from the outset. Their mishandling of the transaction has now necessitated an additional five-day delay in reversing the payment to the customer's account, causing significant inconvenience and potential damage to my business relationships. It's fortunate that the customer in question is known to me; otherwise, the repercussions could have been far more severe In conclusion, my experience with Helcim has been nothing short of detrimental to my business. Their incompetence and lack of consideration for high-value transactions are inexcusable. I strongly advise others to exercise caution when considering Helcim's services, as their ineptitude could have serious repercussions for your business
