I have a fairly large gun collection. The app I was using was no longer being supported and I woke up one day, after an IOS update and it took a dump. I was lucky to have the data still on my ipad because my ipad is a little older and doesn’t support the current IOS update. I found Gun Track and started entering data. After a few entries, I called the number in the app to ask some questions (before I started inputting 100’s of entries), and Glenn answered the phone (same name as me, lol). We talked for over a half an hour about the app, what it can currently do, what updates they are working on, what updates they want to add as well as the firearms industry and a bunch of other stuff. I felt like I had known him my whole life, lol. I love the format of this app and it currently does a lot of things that I really like, most of which are better than the app I was using. As they continue to upgrade, update and perfect the things that they want to do with this app, it will be even more amazing. I honestly felt guilty that Glenn spent so much time talking to me about a product that is free for me to use. What an amazing experience. I started the massive task of data entry as soon as I hung up with him. I hope to be done in about a month. 🤦🏻♂️
This app is an effective why to track your collection of firearms. The ability to store information is great. There are a few features I would like to see in updates. 1. The pictures of long rifles and shotguns are cut off when looking through the list of firearms. 2. The purpose of keeping track of firearms has many advantages, one of which is a tally of your total cost to replace your collection in case of a fire or “boating accident”. I think it would be advantageous to have an ever updating calculation of total cost. How much you paid for your collection of firearms, accessories and magazines.
I have tried several apps for keeping track of firearms. I have two goals for doing this. One is to be able to have a list of firearms with pictures and serial numbers for insurance purposes. The other is to track reloading data for ammo. The app keeps track of firearms based on what type and caliber, allowing up to three pictures of each. I would like to have a fourth picture for insurance(left, right, model, and serial number) but three is more than most. I contacted the developer with a couple of questions/suggestions and received a reply within a couple of hours. No other app even responded. This means a lot to me. He said that he was considering adding a section for reloading, but as yet has not. There are plenty of apps that do that very well so I can use another for that for now. I would like to see everything in one place at some point though. The app also has a section for accessories as well, which looks like they can be linked to a particular firearm, but I have not tried that yet. I am still using the free version for now so I’m sure the full version will have more bells and whistles.
