Gator Dash Cam

doesn’t work. i’ve gotten into 2 instances where i needed to review dashcam footage and it constantly let me down. firstly, there’s a million steps to trying to get it to work in the first place. connect to the wifi, connect to phone etc, it’s a major hassle. then finally when it does work (even when it doesn’t) the whole car ride all you hear is constant “gps working” - it will GENUINELY drive you insane. i’ve called and even exchanged it, still no fix. then when something happens and you try to review it on your phone? doesn’t work. dates are messed up. footage messed up or just not recorded. so then i took the sd card to review it on a laptop, once again footage NOT THERE and random dates going back to 2004 (i bought in 2025) footage not even recorded. 0/10 DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. IT SHOULDNT BE THIS HARD TO REVIEW FOOTAGE - AND YOU WOULD EXPECT IT TO ACTUALLY RECORD AND WORK.

They don’t tell you this but you need to have your mobile data turned off when using the app and the dash cam won’t record when it’s connected to your phone via the wifi so turn off auto connect! And make sure your wifi is not connected to the dash camera while you’re driving otherwise is will not record

My experience with the Gator Dash Cam app post-update has been nothing short of infuriating. The switch from a model-specific app to this universal disaster has transformed my once reliable dash cam into a useless piece of tech. Despite not been cheap, the unit now refuses to record, live view is flat out refusing to work no matter how many updates get pushed, and every attempt to view clips in the folder ends in frustration-inducing error messages. This update is a colossal failure, turning what was once a trustworthy tool into a regrettable and costly mistake. Save yourself the trouble and steer clear of this app and its unreliable dash cam combo.
