Unfortunately the app focuses on the map at the expense of the more important items. Issues with setting up a config and it not saving or reverting back to a blank setup that other users have reported still exist. Scan A,B,C in zones doesn’t save when you hit back and defaults all to on. And zones, which could be improved if you could customise the number of CB channels in each instead of being hard locked for all 77 UHF for all zones. As it stands it severely limits options and solely serve if you want to scan non CB channels, otherwise they’re pointless for CB only users. I’m sure that there is a small market for the map users and current zone setup, but feel GME have missed how these could have been easily tweaked to greatly open up versatility for a larger audience by giving the zones options to limit CB channels per zone too. But the main issue is the app really needs an overhaul. It’s buggy, and not intuitive. As a developer myself, I feel for the devs who have no doubt put hard work into making this app, and it’s hard to write this review knowing what negative feedback is like, but I’m hoping to see an update that resolves this and be able to return in the near future and give it 5 stars. Good luck to the devs, I sincerely hope you’re able to change things around soon! 👍

:Edit Well my dream came true and GME released the XRS660 hand held. After a weekend of 4WD and camping in an area without phone service I’ve realised just how valuable the XRS location service is. Just one example the lead vehicle a few kilometres up would transmit after taking a turn and this would drop a pin into the XRS app on my phone (no cellular service needed) and I never missed a turn. Not only that I could find vehicles that have gone off track. Absolutely fantastic app and UHF radio - thank you. I have a technical background and have been using radios for years. I just love the flexibility of this app and the ability to change scan, zone, selcall, and subtone configurations from my phone easily when on the road. You do need to wait for it to read/write the radio but that’s a minor inconvenience for the flexibility you get. I’ve stopped using the menus in the radio and just use my phone. Just waiting for a GME handheld that has location services. Keep up the good work Steve

While this new version improves the speed of loading the radio configuration, I think that the focus on the map is a bad decision. What I want from the app is the ability to configure and control the radio. The configuration is hard to find and even though I fetched my current configuration from the radio before making changes and sending it back, the app just loaded a blank configuration and I lost all my setup. I have exported my configuration from the old app but I can’t find how to import that file in this new version. There are also some bugs that suggest the app wasn’t tested very well; there is the problem I already mentioned with the app erasing the existing configuration. There is also a silly “off by one” error when setting the priority channel; you need to select one channel lower than you actually want. Even when you turn off the location sharing feature the app still activates background location, resulting in a blue “location in use” bar until you kill the app. The only fix is to deny location permission to the app entirely. Finally the radio control feature seems to have been removed altogether. My suggestion is to focus on making configuration easier and more reliable rather than the map.
