I started playing party bridge many years ago. Then started to learn duplicate. I played that for some time and after we moved just stopped. I have found FunBridge to be a good way to practice and learn. However, I find it a problem in explaining bids. I try to learn from the bids, both mine and opponents. However far too often, and more so with my partner’s bid, I find their bids misleading especially with card count. It often results in not making the contract. Another aspect is the card play. In most cases it’s the play of other hands. It most often occurs with NT contracts. I can’t count how many times I am playing in NT, go down 1 or two, only to see the other players have made it and even made 1 or 2 over tricks. The bidding was the same as mine, but the leads from their opponents set up easy making of the contract. They get a very high score, and I am in the teens, Maybe it’s something I am missing how FunBridge works, but I thought we are being judged against our play on the same hand being played by opponents playing the same against all. Just wanted to sound off on this. If it were not for those aspects, I would have rated it a 4 or 5 Star
Still a one for me. I did the promotion to see if you play a lot of deals whether or not unrealistic situations still exist. I have played over thousand deals. Let me break it down. You will bid a hand where you open with higher than normal points say in 1H (14 pts), your partner will support in your suit, you go game. You will have a hand like AQxxx, partner will have Jxx, and few other points. You will try to finesse K and miss every time. The other situation is you play against a 6-1 split. So opp will lead his ace of something win the trick lead back and partner is void and you lose contract to unrealistic split. There is not a Laydown contract meaning you bid exactly as you should and get something that is an easy contract. I realize the purpose to help you play better but there should be hands where you bid it correctly and shouldn’t have to overthink the play. This is not a card randomizer it’s strictly setup hands where you bid like any established bridge player would and get hosed because they setup the absolute only case you lose the contract. I prefer bridge where it’s more realistic. Not to say those situations don’t exist but it’s the exception not the norm. It actually make you a worse player because you are so used to the exception you don’t play it like you should. I have reported hundreds of deals with no response from developers. They will respond to this ratings post like please flag the deal or contact support…no response or acknowledgement. They don’t do anything to fix it. No support answers.
This is one of the best apps for playing Bridge on the store. I was having a blast playing and learning how to play such a unique card game, however there were some discrepancies. After doing some research on the game and reading well documented texts on correct bidding, the A.I. In this game is actually in correct in a lot of ways. The bids and such aren’t accurate to hand strength and length. For instance, I was playing a round and we were on the 2nd or 3rd round. The A.I. Jumped from 1 spade to 4 spades!! WHAT? We didn’t nearly have enough points combined and after the dummy went down his hand revealed only to have 2 spades compared to about 6 or so in clubs...we should’ve been playing clubs but the AI was communicating spades the entire match. This is very frustrating from the AI and there doesn’t seem to be a workaround at all. Overall, at least it’s slightly playable, but it is messing with my score for sure.
