Canary - Smart Home Security

I bought my first Canary security camera at the beginning of the company’s operations. Turned out soon afterward my wife was diagnosed with cancer and her initial treatment was with a stem cell transplant that required us to be nearby the clinic for 9 or 10 months, meaning we were away from our home all that time. Although we had a professionally installed and monitored traditional burglar alarm system the picture from the Canary was reassuring and it’s temperature monitoring system was superior to that we had on the traditional system which often gave false alarms. We downsized a year or so later to a condo which I monitored with two canary cameras. We had purchased a townhouse to be near the cancer clinic and I also monitored it with Canary cameras. Being able to see what’s going on (if nothing else being able to see I closed the overhead garage door when I left) and make sure the heat is on during freezing weather when we are away (and we are always away from one place or the other) gives great peace of mind. Living in safe controlled areas I’m not so concerned with burgers, but we get security from that too! I wouldn’t do without my Canary Security, the things really do work and give great peace of mind for very little!

I originally got this camera as a way to watch my dog who had separation anxiety. She would tear her crate and my carpet to shreds. This camera allows me to use a siren that blares on her end to focus her attention but I also could talk through it. After she became better with her crate, I used the camera to simply watch her while I was away outside of her crate. The camera allows you to put it in away mode if you’re gone and it alerts your phone with video recording footage of the movement on the camera so I can review and see what is happening. It can also go in sleep mode for when you’re sleeping and it can detect movement and alert you but when you’re home and don’t need it to be recording, you put it in home mode. The access is completely available on your phone from any location. I went out of country and my camera alerted me someone was in my room. I was able to view the recording and recognize it was a friend walking in my room. The cameras view is wide range too so even if you think it won’t see it all, it probably will. 10/10 recommend for anyone needing a camera for security purposes in your dorm room, bedroom if you live alone or to watch your pets while you’re away. I use it to make sure nobody enters my room while I’m gone because I live with 3 randoms in an apartment. Lastly, in case it wasn’t obvious, the camera also allows you to watch videos live without recording them so anytime it’s not recording, you can simply open the app and click “watch live.” That would be how you talk through the camera and use the siren. Videos can be saved on your device as well. And if you forget to put it in away mode while you’re gone, simply open the app and click away mode. Instantly starts recording if there is movement.

I had a canary years ago when they first started, I loved it so much back then, it gave me everything I needed, so now when I needed a camera again, I was excited to buy a canary again, and to my shock, almost everything was limited to subscription and premium monthly services, all you’re pretty much allowed is to watch live, can’t even record manually if you need to, which is a simple option something every other camera has.. can’t even manually turn off night vision if you want to or happen to have your camera behind a window, so pretty much it’s useless at night because of the glare reflection of the IR… why should I pay tons of money monthly for same services other companies throw in for free out a fraction of what you guys charge? My neighbor told me he has 2 Wyze cams that he bought for half the price of what I paid for 1 canary pro, same picture quality and his actually pan and tilts and mine doesn’t , but more importantly , he has premium features that he literally pays whatever he wants for, he names his own price, and has tons of features that my canary pro lacks, meanwhile I’m here trying to figure out why my canary never sends me notifications and I tried everything they suggested to fix that with no luck, I’m seriously considering jumping ships and mailing my canary back to them to be recycled.. only reason I gave two stars is because one upon a time I actually enjoyed canary, sadly everything that’s god comes to an end…unless something happens and you guys make some changes
