Calm Radio - Music to Relax

I’ve used Calm Radio for years. I justified a separate subscription in addition to Apple Music because I found they had original content and mixes that were very effective for relaxation (and I have mental health issues). But, I’m starting to suspect that they’ve collected lifetime subscriptions and gone on a permanent vacation, leaving the app to autopilot. There haven’t been any updates in ages, then recently, the icon changed (not even a good change), and that’s it. Today, I went to the Top 40 station and it played all hits from 2017. I’m starting to wonder now if I’ve been over paying for something that no longer is being managed or has value. I’ve emailed their customer service to see if perhaps there’s an explanation - others have said that stations are just repeating playlists that don’t change, but I’ve honestly never noticed because I often just use it for background music when I’m stressed. But, that’s actually pretty messed up if that’s true. Wondering what they’re doing with that subscription money. Update: I received a response, but sadly I am saying goodbye to Calm Radio after several years. I love the music and I love the idea, but some of the playlists have not been updated - the pop stations do not have any music newer than 5 years ago. It doesn’t make me feel confident that anything else has been updated, either. I really do like the idea of having more obscure music sorted by purpose, and it is a great idea for music therapy and treating mental / health conditions. But, I can do that on my own through other apps. If I’m going to be paying for something, I want it to be fresh and not just in appearance. I can understand the raised price for inflation, but it does kind of pile on. The apps are great. I just wish they’d updated with more content.

I became a life member because you are using the basic ideas of The Mystic Moods Orchestra from the last century. Your unique like they were and you understand the cocktail of music with sound affects and how it all comes together so beautifully. I am extremely happy with your expanding library of music too. You are well worth the investment. I am happy to see the new Autumn sound you have put out too. Now as to my ideas or requests I would like you to provide more Autumn and winter videos. Those seasons seemed a little ignored by you and there is a lot to see. You could even do a Christmas one during the season with Christmas lights or the time of the season reflected in it. Please keep expanding because when you do your expanding my life time investment in you and it makes bragging about you easier. God bless to all of your team. Thanks.

I quickly fell in love with this app. I usually only listen to classical music and not necessarily to put me in a “calm” mood, but because I enjoy it a lot. I hesitated downloading this app at first because I assumed this app would have a very small selection of classical music filled in with a lot of “show tunes” like most other apps but I quickly noticed that stations were broken down into different classical music periods and had a very large range of composers. After playing around with it for a few minutes, I was hooked. Most of the time I just want to listen to a certain period/style/composer and don’t want to bother searching for an album to listen to. I’ve been listening to the classical piano station for several hours now and every piece I’ve heard so far has been outstanding. Excellent sound quality, diverse list of composers. So far it seems like there must be a huge library of classical music on here and I won’t be hearing the same pieces several times a day. Having the nature videos playing in the background is really nice too. Now I’m adding nature sounds into the mix. Awesome! I’m in heaven. As I’m playing with the app, I had an idea that probably wouldn’t work because it would use way too much data, but it would be so awesome if somehow some live nature webcams could be integrated in. I would listen and stare at my phone all day if I could listen and switch between different live nature cams. Love the app! Thank you.
