I tried the free trial to check out the premium subscription sleep sounds & how they may help my sleep as an insomniac. Although it was the first time using the app with earbuds in binaural mode vs. through my phone's speaker in isochronic mode, it was astonishing. I will say that it is typical for me to feel more rested after 3-4 hours of sleep than after 7-12+ hours. No matter how long I sleep, I never feel fully rested. In fact, the more I sleep, the more tired I am when I wake. It was approximately 1:30am when I figured I would give it a go. I woke up at 4:30am to my hungry cat (per usual), feeling as if I had the best night's rest I’ve had in several years. Except this was different than my typical 3-hour night’s rest because I felt legitimately rejuvenated & alert. I wasn’t just “less tired” than after sleeping 8+ hours, with a false sense of being well-rested, due to being overtired & feeling “wired.” On top of that, I felt as if I had gotten a full-body massage, my muscles were so relaxed. Rather uthan subconsciously wanting to curl back up by in bed, I was mmmmmmmmgenuinely motivated to stay up & tackle my mday's work. 5 stars!
I haven’t seen any other apps do this and it makes this one so unique. It’s great to have background audio and use other apps that also have audio. It’s a great upgrade from apples background audio it currently has. I would only recommend more customization features like a tone only mode without the music. edit: I just noticed that there are pure frequencies. But that would lead me to my next suggestion; Some improvements to the UI would be nice. Having the list of “songs” is a little hard to navigate and discover all the app has. I don’t really think of each thing as a “song” like “rainbow renewal”. Im just looking for a tone and some music behind it. Transitioning from different tones and background music is a bit unintuitive for me personally and I would like to be able to change frequencies within the media player page. But I like what you guys have right now and the information about the current tone. Just want to give my personal experience and see if that helps this great app!
I am updating to five stars because the below review was addressed and followed up with by the developers, and they amended the situation well. I ended up circling back and subscribing to the premium version, and it is worth it for features like the backdrop mode (allowing audio from other apps while being able to adjust the volume of the soundscape separately. I have noticed a change in sleep quality, although I recommend not using the binaural frequencies more than a couple times a week because it can be overstimulating and I have had issues with a little tinnitus occurring when I use it for weeks at a time. Overall, this app has grown on me and I appreciate the work of the developers. This was my original review: I signed up for the one-week free trial because the app claimed to notify you two days before the trial ended before beginning a monthly payment. However, I received absolutely no warning or reminder whatsoever—not even a notice in the app—that my trial was ending, and today I was automatically billed $44 for the YEARLY subscription. So much for “easy cancellation.” Overall I love this app; however, I am very upset with the deceptive nature of the trial, hence I am giving this review only one star.
