Butcher hero: hook'n'chew RPG

This game is incredibly fun. It’s constantly engaging with all of the different worlds and weapons you can use. Plus the events that happen multiple times a day. I enjoy that the events give you great rewards, but I feel like they don’t scale very well with your damage. It seems like the stronger you get, the harder it gets to complete parts of the event. Also, I feel like there should be ways to earn gems. Currently the only way to get gems is to spend real money. Some players don’t want to spend real money, but would like to earn premium currency even if it takes awhile to get to the point of being able to spend them. This game would be a 5 star game if the event enemies didn’t scale as much as they do and if you could earn gems.

I’ve played this for a few weeks now, so I feel I can give an honest review on it. Right off the bat- this game is a simple main character reskin of the Devour game. Same map, same enemies, nearly identical gameplay overall. Second- if you aren’t going to pay for VIP (I haven’t put a cent into the game), it’ll be a bit of a slow grind. Gameplay is pretty fun for what it is, permanent leveling is always nice. Enemies will be a bit tough at first until you get your health regeneration and other stats up a bit. The timers on basic enemies and the environment you can “hook & chew” end up making you wait typically around 5-30 minutes initially for a respawn, (the mini-bosses/item droppers take a bit longer to respawn) but after a few times of taking them out, they become locked until the daily reset. Which means you have nothing but the horribly scaled boss events to try until then. The in-game ads will typically offer better rewards than any single object/person you consume. This next part is important- The boss event (when unlocked) is 100% rigged against you. The scaling from one event to the next is absolutely diabolical. Unless you put a bunch of $$ into the game, you will not ever beat any of the bosses past the first few during the event (even while taking out the minions that spawn and give extra attack/defense bonuses against the boss), meaning you miss out on the higher scaled rewards. Every time. Just keep that in mind, as that part WILL disappoint you. That being said, if they end up fixing the scaling of the boss event and timers on normal enemies down the road, I’d actually potentially spend a few bucks to unlock VIP. In the game’s current state, though, it’ll never be worth it.

This game might have potential, but not with as many ads as it forces on you. The goal is to defeat enemies to slowly upgrade everything. This lets you take on more difficult enemies and bosses, to slowly get other increases. Though as you play, you quickly see that you’re rewarded more for watching ads than playing, NOT cool, NOT fun! Before the update you at least had the choice to ignore the ad icon which popped up about every 30 seconds. (Those ads being anywhere from 30 to 120 seconds long.) Now there is a banner ad across the bottom all the time which you can somewhat overlook, but still annoying because it covers your weapons and armor somewhat. I was leveling, the character was over 650k health and stats around 20k. However, I drew the line when ads just popped up randomly as I was trying to play. At first I thought it was because my thumb accidentally brushed the banner ad at the bottom, and I instantly closed the app to a forced ad. The second time it happened I know it wasn’t because I touched the ad banner. So I closed the game immediately, and deleted it. DON’T GET THIS GAME! It’s a waste of time, even as a time waster! It’s an ad generating drain on your existence. It’s an obnoxious weed in the garden of this one life we have to live. Don’t plant weeds in your life! This app is not worth paying even 1¢ for any unlock in it!
