Bumble For Friends: Meet IRL

Mentally I have been cataloging various failures on the part of Bumble. Ages ago it was a worthwhile dating app. However, as of the past few years… it definitely has gone downhill. The Bantr effort was good on paper, but in practice the men I would chat with either denigrated me to an object since there weren’t any images, and were already making very sexual remarks from the get-go, OR they were patronizing from the start OR talking with them was like trying to herd cats. Beyond that, Bumble on its own hosts some of the most egotistical men I have ever matched with on a dating app which seems sensationally out-of-character considering the reason for its creation. Lastly, their efforts at competing with other dating apps seem woefully pathetic and lacking in imagination. My “Opening Line” does not automatically send, nor does it allow me to copy and paste to send or something of a similar vein. You would think this “invention” would not require one to retype the entire question each time, but it does. I think that paying for Bumble is not worth it, and now I am simply fed up with the app altogether. So downloading it does not seem worthwhile at this point either.

I've been using Bumble for months with no issues! Then all of the sudden I am logged out and my account is blocked out of nowhere, no warning, no anything! I read the community guidelines throughly and know I didn't do anything to break any of the rules. I contacted bumble support and I absolutely got no help. I felt like I was talking to a robot. Not only did I receive the same exact responses twice, but I was provided no real explanation over what happened, and absolutely no solution, then was told that I would no longer be getting a reply after 2 messages. If it was real people helping then they would see that there's nothing wrong with my profile. It is a shame because I enjoyed using Bumble until this unfair issue/ treatment arose! Update: Contacted Bumble support again via Twitter or X and still get the same responses I got via email. There was no real solution provided or no real reasoning as to why I got blocked. No appeal process, no way to access/ see your account to confirm that you didn't go against community guidelines. And after 2 messages they say that they won't be responding anymore. My original statement still stands, and I'm really disappointed.

I was hesitant to get the app as I am married and was worried it wasn’t actually a friend app but more like a dating app but no! You get people who are also just looking for friends. It’s the same as a dating app, you get to fill out everything about you, post pictures and set distance and age preferences. So far I’ve noticed that texting first is the best way to actually get people to talk but if you’re too scared send a gif! Me and my husband both got the app and I mostly get women on mine and he gets mostly men, now idk if you can’t change the preferences to mix or get the opposite gender but it doesn’t bother us at all. I’ve had this app for maybe 3-4 days and got a couple phone numbers and one planned meet up so far but you really gotta put in effort like with any other friendship that’s in real life.
