I’ve used this app and it functions well for its purpose. My main problem w/ it is that it offers minimal privacy protections to users. Beyond a huge page of small print (I actually read it) it offers nothing. It tracks your data—the articles you read and interact with, your locations and time of day, etc and utilizes that info to customize misleading ads you then see displayed to better influence you. They also see your comments and can use what you write to determine your opinions, morals, and political leanings. This data doesn’t stay with Channel 5 news, it goes to their 3rd party Advertising/PR group and tied to YOU. The agencies compile the information for all their users and because its tied to YOU they can use it to send you ads on other websites, services, etc even on your home computer. There is no option to opt-out, to anonymize or decline without uninstalling. There no other options for anyone who uses the app other than to uninstall it (while they keep all this detailed data. You can’t even contact them through the app to ask or complain—you have to try and reach out to that 3rd party only responds with utterly generic, clichés and legalese. Channel 5 News: Give us the option to opt-out of data collection, stop sending data to third parties, and give us the option to delete all of our personal data from any location that it is sent to. This would include databases and other computers that you and/or your 3rd parties have stored our data and finally, from our own phones which are our personal property.

I’ve been here twenty years now and coming from Southern California this weather was crazy to me and I was a mess and totally stressed out in tornado season but now twenty years later I’ve learned so much about the weather that everyone would call me when tornadoes are in the area to check to see if I thought we were going to be ok, especially when we lose power! I’m not a mess anymore or totally stressed out I’m 5news and weather’s number 1 fan and would watch nothing else when it comes to the news and weather!!! Thank you to everyone at 5news for my storm lessons every night and up to date news you all are awesome !!! I’m still trying to figure out the hail and how to tell when we need to worry about that but will still and always watch 5news and weather 👍🏼the best NEWS AND WEATHER for 5 country and news where you live!!!!!!!

I have to say I miss Garrett, BUT….. Matt is very excitable and Zac is as well. The morning news is very different, at first it was hilarious and then it became very obnoxious, and now it’s to be a little more tolerable. I miss Tyler and I wish him well. But I believe he had to leave because he couldn’t stand trying to do a serious job as a joke. Best wishes Tyler we understand. The hardest part I believe about the news and weather. Is my husband gets up at 4:15 am to go to work each morning. He works out in the weather for 10 hours a day. He keeps complaining that it would be nice to know the weather he will have to deal with before he leaves in the morning. But I guess that’s okay now cause we just turn to channel 40/29 to see the weather. So sorry Zac, I know you do a great job. I do watch you after my husband gets his weather from them and he leaves for work. Garrett use to do it right, I know you would also Zac, it’s not your fault.
