The app does make it easy to order but you can tell it was created as an afterthought when compared to the online website. For first time use it seems good but as you use it you will see it’s short comings like having no immediate cancel order option if you placed a wrong order by picking the wrong “saved favorites” by accident. Compared to the webpage, there’s numerous inconsistencies and lack of quality of life measures. First, the app allows you to sign in using different methods like Apple ID, where the website only allows Facebook or email. Second, which is pretty huge factor, there is no “Account settings” on the app!! So you cannot delete/edit/save new or old credit card information. This can lead to another problem like placing an order with the wrong credit card, which if you’re like me, you like to use one card for restaurant expenses for the bonuses as it also helps to easily track your financial habits. Third, the app has an edit profile for things like your email, birthday, and physical address. Meanwhile online has nothing of this option, which has me to believe this app is obviously here to collect your data. Meanwhile the website has a option of “online tracking opt-out” option… that actually doesn’t opt you out. Instead tells you how to block your cookies and talks about using browser plug-ins!! WTH lol. They already charge you an ONLINE SERVICE FEE and yet are probably making more money selling your data as well. Users beware.
I’ve been using the app for about a year now and up until now I have had no problems. I recently ordered food from the Atlantic and willow store and when I arrived to pick my food up the restaurant was closed. You’d think like any other food app you’d simply be able to cancel the order right? Well it’s not the simple. When you go to cancel the order you’re presented with the restaurant’s phone number to call and if the store is open you’d just call them an cancel the order but again the one I ordered from was closed. So I go online to reach out to customer service call the number listed to the website no one picks up perfect, so I write them a email. The I check the app and it’s telling me my order is completed so I give the restaurant a call and they tell me they can’t do refunds for orders via the app and that I’d have to reach out to customer service. So over the course of 3 days I’m calling the number listed on the website to no avail I even send another email. And nothing I don’t receive any type of confirmation email or text messages. At this point I’m just going to call my bank and see what my options are because I’m not letting that 17$ slide. Just figured I’d write this review as a warning to others who look to make orders via the app, if you have any issues don’t expect any customer service. All I wanted was some food not to feel robbed.
The app is user friendly and loads quickly. Two things I want to mention: 1. Since we are Yoshinoya lovers, we would drive an hour to pickup a bowl to bring home! It would be great that although you can get the teriyaki sauce “on the side” (and extras too...that blows my mind); to also have the beef juice be an option to have on the side too so that our rice doesn’t get all soggy after the hour drive home please!!!!)!!!!! 2. If the app doesn’t react to something because we haven’t done it, to give us a reminder of what we haven’t done to progress to checkout. I.e. checking two items for the combo... I checked both chicken and beef and didn’t realized for about 30 seconds that I was supposed to scroll down to choose the second item in another identical list. Maybe if the app told me to scroll down/or an arrow pointing down? The phone screens are only so big. Other than that, I am soooo excited about an online app. Felt like I waited my whole life for this!!!!!!! Thank you Yoshinoya!!!!!!!!! I’ll be using this app often and telling everyone about it!
