I generally don’t write reviews but I kinda had to for this app. I’ve run pretty seriously before so I’m familiar with how you can set intervals inside the Apple workout app on your watch. The thing is, everything on this app you can basically do yourself or cobble together from a couple different apps for free. And it’s kinda fiddly and doesn’t always work how you want it to, and for couch 2 5k you would have to make a decent amount of pre-sets. So this app is just nice, pay a reasonable price once, and get a solid native watch project that lets you skip the head ache. I still encourage people to figure out how to set intervals for themselves in the mean time. It’s good not to feel like you Have to pay for stuff like this and to have the freedom to set up custom workouts. But when your picking up running again, it’s really easy for small speed bumps to stall you. And having just like the first month or 2 of training totally preset can smooth the way
This app is PERFECT. I always wanted to start running, but every time I tried I could not get it right. I was unstructured and just ran as fast as I could, leaving me breathless within a minute. I tried other apps, but they either just served as trackers, or over complicated the process. This app made it so easy and with the press of 2 buttons, you are on your way. It literally tells you via a running animation when it’s time to walk, and when it’s time to run. It even provides you haptic feedback, meaning that you don’t even have to check your watch, just focus on walking/running. In terms of breaking it down, it is excellent. It starts with mostly walking, all the way to 30 minutes of running. The structure is so good that by the time you get to the last week, you really can run those 30 minutes non stop! I started using the app the first week of September, just ran my first 5K ever first week of December. This is something I could have NEVER imagined I’d be able to do, but here I am, all thanks to this app. This app works. It makes the process just so simple. The only “downside” I can say is that you do need an Apple Watch so keep that in mind. If you are wanting to start your journey but don’t know what or how, this is THE app to use. Thank you to the team for creating such a good app, and man that running/walking animation is just so clever. One request I do have is if you all could also make one for 10K, half marathon and full marathon. Keep it this simple, just up the structure to be able to run the higher mileage. I know this is a long review, but I really do want to make it clear that this app works.
This app is everything I’ve been looking for. I’ve completed the program a few times (!) using different apps and none of them come close to this one (including the one from Active). This is a native Watch app, as opposed to an afterthought for a phone app, and it shows. No fluff, everything that you need and nothing that you don’t. I hate running with my phone. With this app, I can just leave it in my car and go. No setup, no fiddling for 5 minutes. No endless confusing settings. It just starts, and it just works. The prompts are clear as day and to the point, the voice is not annoying (I do appreciate the GB accent!). Integration with the Music app and my bluetooth headset is flawless. Lastly, the Watch screens are great. Easy to read, and again, to the point. Integration with the Health app just works. I really like that it logs separate workouts for warmup/run/cooldown. But maybe that should be an option. I’m in week 3 and haven’t found a bug yet. The only improvement I’d ask for would be to be able to see the workout details before doing them. Oh, and a Watch to 10k app :) There’s nothing like putting on your running shoes and just going out with nothing but your car keys in your pocket. Thank you. I would have gladly paid more.
