I am a completely new runner. Goal is to run 5K and 10K without dying. This is a great program to help train you. The mix between walking and running at the scheduled intervals and time lengths was perfect. The only problem? It doesn’t tell you how fast to run. Only on and past Week 5 Day 2 does it start telling you to jog specific distances for X number of minutes. Example: 3/4 of a mile for eight minutes. If you do the math? That’s 5.625 mph that I’m supposed to be running!! Prior to this I would complete each run+jog interval, but only at 3.5 to 4.0 mph. The reality that I should’ve been going 5.625 at a sustained run literally crushed me and demotivated me big time as I realized I wasn’t keeping up with the actual intended program. That was 2 weeks ago. I’m over it mentally now and am going through the program again; working to increase my speed. This is a lifestyle change so I will repeat the program numerous times, as well as working through their 10K program. Eventually, I’ll be able to get my 5K time at a sub-30 minute pace of which I’ll be extremely happy… I’ll owe it all to this program. Definitely the best money spent for the subscription.
I have always felt like a runner in my head, but once my shoes hit the pavement it was proven otherwise. I would be winded after 1 minute of running and wouldn’t try again for a long time. I downloaded the C25K app August 2018 and really struggled the first two weeks. Fortunately the reminders and breaks in between running is what kept me pushing through the program. I was running 30 minutes non stop and enjoying the program in no time (2 months later). I took some time off because I had a hard time running in the winter time, but when spring came around I knew I was ready to jump back in. Naturally, I downloaded the 10K app. If you have completed the 5k program, it will start you off at week 9 which was great because I needed to ease back into running. Honestly, this is the best program. I feel like a runner, I have more stamina, I have lost 30lbs, and it’s all because of this app.
Great app. Very easy to use, and almost identical to the C25K app. After I completed the C25K running app, it gave me the option to download this 10K trainer, the next app in the series. Once I did, instead of starting me at the beginning, the program started me at week 6, because it recognized I was already capable of the 5K. That was a great feature...it's a huge perk how all these training apps are from the same company, so they're all connected and easy to use. It still gives you the "one minutes remaining" audible announcement, which is handy. I like all the voice notifications (when to begin running, stop running, and when I'm half-way) because then I can just go and listen to music, without having to look at my phone. Thanks for the easy-to-use, beginning runner-friendly app! Combined with healthy eating (and minimal extra sugar and bread), I am in the best shape I've been in, in 5 years.
