Waffle: Shared Journal

As a shared journal it does what it is designed to, although I feel like the potential for more creativity is lost and confined, like simple things such as ways of inputting text, bullet points, underlining and font and size changing. More customizable themes to make the journaling experience as cozy to each individual person and their color/mood preferences. Maybe a shared task list in its little quick access dropdown area too, to keep each other accountable on habits that have been done, whether it’s daily goals or monthly, etc. Being able to pin specific journal entries, especially for accountability, such as goal listing for others to see, those being pinned so they dont get lost in the other entries can be important. Ways of organizing entries into custom folders, so you can better organize thoughts into categories. It works as a shared journal, but it could have more features that don’t add much complexity behind it, it could even give the pro version more to it rather than just changing the cover of the journal, which I feel isn’t utilized much anyways. I feel like the current state of the app feels like a trial, no matter if I have the pro or free version, and that the pro version could at-least add these kind of smaller additions to better the journaling experience.

I downloaded 7 journaling apps to see which would be the best to create journals for my kids as they are growing up. This one by far is the best one I tried out! It is so easy and fast to type in a quick sentence, upload pictures or videos, and be able to have a place for memories. You can also export as a PDF if you want to print it into a book or print out pics and text for easy scrapbooking You can post dates in the past just as easily as the day of. And you can have multiple journals. I have one for each of my kids and I hope they enjoy them when they are grown. I am thoroughly enjoying it now for myself and am so glad this app exists. I love this journal!! It’s like all the best parts of twitter/social media + a groupchat. I love that there are no direct laugh replies bc I think it makes people feel less pressured to post something that gets lots of positive reactions. I would say tho: 1) I think it comes off really bad for them to remove the ability to 1) firstly remove the ability to add videos then 2) remove the FREENESS of the feature to add multiple photos. It is a JOURNAL, that is marketed as helpful for mental health and relationship building. Seems sort of money hungry to put the photos behind a paywall. When it was simply like pay = unlimited and 5-6 = free, I was like okay fine. But to only have one seems like the company cares less about user experience and more about making money. I also feel like paying 6.99 a month to add multiple pictures is way too much. Perhaps changing their model to being like a nonprofit where yall get money through mental health advocacy grants or something,, because asking users to pay so much for having more than photo (especially wen we originally did not) seems greedy/not fair. 2) it’d be cooler if we could actually customize the journal covers!!!! The generic journal cover lacks intimacy. I would also say that there should be an option to remove people from the journal.
