Lovewick: Relationship Tracker

Like many others, I’m also disappointed that the team took the questions - arguably the ONLY reason why my husband and I use the app - from 10 free questions per day down to only 1 per day. We’ve been using the app for years after I found out about it online, and we would take a few minutes before bed to go through our questions. We fell off a few months ago, and now that we’ve come back to the app, it’s to find out that I have to pay to get the features I used to get. I understand having to pay a team, I do. But you had a great thing and you ruined it. I don’t know a lot of people willing to pay any amount of money for what is behind the plus paywall, and saying that everything is free *if you’re patient* just feels rude. For a lot of couples that are already in established, long term relationship and have already utilized the other parts of the app, the questions are the main draw. I no longer feel inclined to put them into our nightly routine, because before if we got a less than stellar question to spark deeper conversation, we had 9 other chances to get one that was better. Now, if I get a dud question then I’m out for the day. Boo.

Look. I get it. People are tired of subscriptions. But it’s not our fault that we live in a capitalist hellscape and need to make money in order to survive. Apps take time and money to create and run, especially quality ones like this one. The only difference between the free version before and now is that you get 1 question per day instead of 12. That’s it. Everything else is the same! If you don’t want to pay for the premium tier than simply do not do that. But the small, optional charge per month is not a good reason to leave a petty 1 star review on an app by people who actually care about what they’ve created and are simply trying to be able to keep it running. This isn’t Adobe charging way too much per month because they’re the industry standard and they can take advantage of their customers like that. It is not the same! Oh and also this app does genuinely rule.😂💖

My partner and I have been using Lovewick for a couple months now, we’re long distance and he isn’t the type to express a lot in person, so it’s been a perfect way to stay connected and learn more about him in a medium that’s way more comfortable for him. I love the section where you can put important dates and favorites in, it’s super sweet and easy access. The date ideas are fun and we love putting milestones up to look at, especially when we aren’t together. One thing that’s a little frustrating is that, since we are long distance we almost never do cards in person. When filling out the cards, the “save” button is close to the “completed” button and it’s hard to discern a lot. It would be great if either they were in totally different places, or you could I mark a card as played so the other person sees it better. It would also be fun if there were a way to do more back and forth after the cards. Even if there was a “I’d like to discuss this further” button to indicate if there isn’t a chat function. Since we each answer it’s really great to get our singular thoughts out but it would be nice to explore some of our answers deeper when we see what each other wrote. Overall really have enjoyed using Lovewick and I’ve recommended it to friends as a great way to stay connected (and especially my guy friends who are figuring out how to open up more:) ).
