Volumio

This app used to work fairly well but over the last few years the airplay support has gotten worse and worse. I can now start an airplay stream but it will quit within 10 mins. So I started playing music with the built in internet radio stations which means it will play continuously but after ten mins or so the app looses connection to the Volumio device and I can no longer control it. The Home Screen of app will see my device and says it online but cannot connect to it to control it. Good software and good idea but it needs to work for more than five minutes at a time.

As another reviewer has remarked if your Raspberry Pi is old or if your phone is old, there will be a lag. But overall. The app and the software it works with function remarkably well, considering how little it costs to put together a system that will stream lossless music and allow one to repurpose an ancient stereo and speakers for the digital age. It should be noted that Volumio uses Wi-Fi and not Bluetooth, ensuring every bit and byte passes from your file to your ears.

This ‘beta’ fixed several issues I had with my iPad 4 and Volumio 2.853. The troubleshooting team were quite helpful. Kudos to them. Issues fixed in less than 24 hours. You will have to flash a micro SD with the downloaded file— using balenaEtcher (Mac/pc) Fixed: iPad hanging on IP address (no more rebooting iPad), SW update now apparently working. I have to chuckle to myself using this little Raspberry Pi with the Digione hat; so versatile. A lot of potential. Big smile.
