I absolutely love this game. There are so many different specialities and perks a fighter can have. Late game the ai is so much better than I am so I just let it cook. One of my absolute favorite things about this game is that even without paying for the full game you can get your fighters to #1. Iโve got two things I would like to see changed/added but they are very minor and this is a 10/10 game in every way. Around rank #100 it gets very hard to keep track of the perks you and your opponents have. This leads me to giving up on keeping up with it and just letting the ai win for me. I wouldnโt like to see less perks but maybe a way to easily see which ones affect a move you are about to choose. I may not be understanding something but the amount of injury taken doesnโt make sense. It doesnโt feel like uppercuts, hooks or body shots injury for more than a jab. I can see that the chance is higher but that doesnโt matter when I am knocking the opponent down every other punch. The perk that gives you bonus health for each mrdr is my favorite so itโd be nice if I could make a build around close range and actually trust that after 10 uppercuts they are going to be down for good and not just get back up over and over again.
Having fun with the game, and Iโm mostly satisfied with the legends purchase, but there are definitely some improvements needed and I donโt think they would be that hard to implement. 1. If you buy the legends expansion, you should be able to change/customize everything about your current fighters, not just create a fighter in sandbox and customize there. Name changes, stat changes, look changes, and even what perks are available, the legends pass is expensive so let the people who buy it have complete freedom 2. sandbox mode also should let you pick available perks, I hate creating a huge monster with a massive body and he ends up only having access to lightweight perk, and you canโt see that while youโre creating them. 3. The death system only really works at the beginning of the game. Once you and your opponent have 100+ death resist it basically never happens, even when I have perks and strategies like fainting to cause more injuries. They always get knocked out before it can happen. 4. Your fighter should move up the ladder a lot faster if theyโre on crazy win streaks and have a lot of KOs. It doesnโt make sense to be 35-0 with 35 KOs and not even be close to the champion. But maybe thatโs just my preference for realistic rankings irl. 5. The perks need to be a bit more balanced. Some are clearly better than others and can be easily abused by the player but also by the ai sometimes lol.
Update: A few months ago I reviewed this game and gave it 3 stars, primarily due to a fun gameplay loop that was hurt by bad UI. Since then, I spent time learning the UI, mechanics, and understanding the game more. The developer also made awesome updates along the way that significantly improved the experience. I am very happy to say this game is amazingly fun and has potential to be huge in my opinion. New users may be a little overwhelmed at first, but once you learn how the game functions it is super fun. I recommend this to anyone who likes boxing, turn based games, sports career games, or someone who wants to kill time. Original review: The core gameplay loop of recruiting boxers, fighting with them, upgrading, etc is good. But the games UI is horrible. The details in fights donโt fit on the screen, the layout outside of fights is unintuitive and doesnโt guide you well. This wouldnโt be a problem if there wasnโt an absurd amount of words to explain everything. If this game gets the UI updated and becomes more friendly to players, it could be an amazing time killer game
