The Mahjong App

My family has been playing this app since the spring and have LOVED learning. It’s the sleekest app we have found, and all the controls are perfect. We all live in different places and play Mahjong online with one another multiple times a week. We were sad to see that there was now a subscription for multiplayer. We’d be willing to pay a one time price, but $6 is wild. Especially since there are still plenty of glitches in the game. For example, occasionally it says someone is drawing and they aren’t. Or it says we are waiting for someone to pass and they already have. We don’t want to pay that much already, and then with the glitches it’s hard to justify. But we do love everything else. Thank you.

The game play is easy to learn and use. I really like the app. You can arrange the tiles easily to your preferred placement on the rack. The used tile portion is grouped by suits and scrolls so you can see what has been discarded. Has the option to get hints on possible hands. I personally love the animation, it makes me smile each time and is not distracting to me. I also like that the “bots” have actual names. I recommend this app it is fun for practice.

For most of the day I am away from my computer, but this app is great for the iPhone. I’ve tried others and have difficulty reading the screen because the tiles have been shrunk too much; this one fills the screen! Hands can be moved and adjusted easily. Suggested hands are readily available for viewing (which I love when I don’t have my card with me!) Also expanding other players’ exposed hands requires only a click as does looking at discarded tiles. Four stars was given only because multiplayer isn’t yet available; perfect game for anywhere you have a few minutes to kill!!
