Simple, does what it’s supposed to do. Edit However keep a couple of things in mind. 1) it’s a free app and I understand ads keep it free but it’s really annoying every time I want to look my count and/ or other things like achievements BAM! an ad pops up. In other words look at my daily count…ad look at my achievements….ad look at my count for the week…ad. It’s just a pain navigate the app because of the ads. The fees the want to charge absolutely ridiculous. 2) loss of counts is a real thing. This generally happens in two ways sometimes when they update this app it will strip you of anywhere 2 to 4 days of walk counts. Another way is if you don’t look at your steps for a few days it sometimes doesn’t bother to count your steps. I work at Walmart I average anywhere between 15,000 to 25,000 steps, sometimes when don’t look at my counts for a few days then I’ll look at this app and find that it didn’t count my steps for some of those days while the other 2 step counting apps I have did count them. The achievements are a great idea but they get less encouraging as you go along. It’s now taking months to go on to the next achievements. Like I said earlier I walk 15,000 to 25,000 steps a day I usually walk over a 100,000 steps a week, if it’s taking me this long to get to my next achievement I can only imagine how long it would take for individuals who are trying for the 10,000. Another Edit: with the most resent update they striped away over a months worth of steps🫤🙄 update im probably gonna delete this app soon. The things I’ve stated earlier hasn’t gotten better infact it’s gotten worse. I’m gonna be bummed to loose my achievements but this app just isn’t worth it.
Hey, Even though I stopped counting my steps, my app didn’t! So when I cracked 2500 steps today, I was able to look back and see that the last time I did that was Feb 23rd. The app is also able to encourage me by showing me my long term achievements. I’ve had it about 5 years (and MyStep before then) so it shows me that I’ve walked over 1m steps in total, had the rare 10,000 step day, and walked the entire coastline of Ireland. It also tells me I’d better remember my phone the next time I go on a walk (not always a given!) There are just a few drawbacks with this app. My biggest (okay, only) critique is that the navigation doesn’t make sense to me and it’s not easy to change my goal. Even though I’ve had it for so long, I still have to click several times to get to a place where it will change. Although that could be a connection issue? In which case I wish it would change right away and then update when there is connection. Either way, I can’t figure out how to change my goal today. But overall, great app.
“If it’s not broken - break it!” is the motto of one of the developers who is part of the team now in charge of Stepz, and it’s exactly what they have done with what used to be a favorite app. You are constantly bombarded with loud and intrusive ads that make using Stepz a nightmare. You get those more or less every time you switch to the app. It’s very careless to have that on an app that people use when they are physically active. It’s not just annoying and frustrating, it’s also distracting and can be a safety hazard, showing a high degree of disregard for the users from the developers. Apparently the permanent ad bar on the Stepz screen was not enough for them. What you get for all this is a very questionable aesthetics update and lots of distinction which the pre-2019 version didn’t have - your monthly, yearly, etc, totals are always miscounted after midnight. To fix it you must 1) open the app 2) force close the app 3) reopen the app (yay, ads); if you ever travel to a different time zone all your data gets totally corrupted and you have to download it from....the free in-built step counter that comes with your phone! Each and every time! And one wonders why they demand those outrageous prices for “the full experience”. All of this has been the same for quite some time now, so obviously the developer does not care for us, users of Stepz.
