SocialFlight

This app introduces a way to be involved or know about what aviation related events are happening near you. The WINGS credit corses is another way for pilots to complete some of their continual learning and be involved with the FAA WINGS program. I like these aspects of the app. The app is very slow to get to start page when opened. The app is slow to load any of the other category pages within the app. Being hit with a “please wait” window when trying to navigate the app is a little frustrating reduces my involvement with the app. Some review responses indicate SocialFlight has had some server problems. If they can get that ironed out and get the response time within the app down and continue with the app development to keep users involved and keep the ads down I think it will be a viable option to keep people involved with the aviation community.

Used it for years. Was a great little app and you could easily customize how you wanted to see the map. Enjoyed it. Now it seems its purpose is to force you to turn on location and other settings that were not previously required. I just want a simple app to show me what’s occurring in an area that I choose to look at. If I want to go east I’ll look there. But this is now slower, less responsive, and constantly pops up a message trying to take me to settings…. You had a great thing going. You just kept enhancing it until it’s a hassle. Edit 4/1. Received a note from the developer that it was better with release 9.0. Downloaded it again an this must have been a April fools joke. Intermittent messages that it can’t reach the server. The map is not working as it used to where you can look ahead and see events and their locations. The list view has events. Just not on map.

The app’s refresh from tab to tab is very slow. The app will also sling a persistent nag to turn notifications on if you don’t set app preferences to allow notifications. This nag also freezes the app with no way to cancel the nag without actually changing system notification preferences. I’ll use the app, but having to work around this nag is really aggravating.
