Murder Mystery: Hidden Escape

What a great find this game was! The story is short, but well-written and engaging. As an avid mystery reader, I admit I found the plot a bit predictable. That didn’t detract from my enjoyment at seeing it through, however! Most of the puzzles are fairly intuitive and handily solved with some thought and time. Furthermore, the protagonist often hints at what you need to do. If you get stuck, you can burn Stars for additional hints or instant solutions. You’re given a generous allotment of free Stars at the start and 5 free ones per day. What I found most amazing and great about the game is that “free” actually *means* free. Each successive chapter unlocks immediately upon completing the prior one. No wait times or paying to continue. Best of all, no mandatory ads, no intrusive ad banners, no ads full stop. None. You have the option to purchase Stars or watch ads for hints. I found neither necessary, though I chose to watch a few ads simply to support the game. If I had to make a suggestion, it would be to include an explanation of the in-game hint system in the tutorial. The purpose of the buttons, especially those on the left side, is NOT readily apparent. I wound up wasting a good chunk of Stars pressing them to see what they did. While I didn’t need the Stars, it was still a bit annoying. That’s a minor nitpick in an overall excellent and entertaining game.

EDIT: I write this review asking for the other game to be released literally a second ago then checked just in case and it was just released! Like you answered my prayers in one second lol. I have been checking for months so this is crazy timing. Anyway these games are great and free. Check them out. This game was almost perfect. The other two were okay. But this one kept me engaged and wanting to find out what was going to happen next the entire game. I have the mystery game app that has all the (three) games on it and it has claimed that a new game is “coming soon” for a very long time. I would really like to know when/ if it will ever be released. Thanks for making this game actually enjoyable without having to spend money. I’ll definitely be coming back for more.

This is my kind of game. I like games that are challenging, but not impossible, brain teasers, but not repetitive, and are fun. This had challenging games and puzzles that I had never seen before that required thought, strategy, skill, and a bit of brain power, yet we’re never so frustrating I wanted to throw my iPad through the wall. Hints are available, and daily stars are awarded every 8 hours. I don’t think I once uttered, “well that game was stupid!” Some were easier than others, and I will admit I had to look up a walkthrough once because I would have been there all day trying to get a certain combination. Other than that, and maybe a corny storyline, this game is totally deserving of a 5 star rating.
