New York Mysteries 2

I’ve played 1-3 now and decided to come in to give a review! I enjoy these games very much, graphics are great, puzzles won’t fry your brain only sizzle it a bit, and the storyline is a sci-fi zombie fest—almost. I’m on my way to get NY Mystery 4 and think I’ll get the CE Edition just to have the interactive map. The good thing is that having played the first 3 for free $6.99 is a good deal for essentially 4 games @ like a buck & 3/4’s [$1.75]. A bargain when you look at some games of this type with other developers so I don’t mind supporting them. When I find a developer that gives you a game without ads, 5 hints up front [i’ve never used more than 1], with great support from them working in a war zone in the Ukraine, great graphics plain to see items and decent storyline….well it doesn’t get much better than that in my book! Go ahead & get this game, you won’t be sorry.

I’ve been playing this game, starting with the original of the series and it has all those elements that keeps one engaged….but! The frustrating part begins to develop and increase the deeper you advance into the story. In order to find needed items, and secret items you literally have to touch every micrometer of your screen to obtain what you need, and delve in up to three screens to get what you need three or four screens back. By that time you’ve forgotten what you needed three screens back, now you’re searching all over to find where you need to place that item. Over time this makes the game cumbersome, tiresome and complicated. The length of the story/game flow and including the bonus game is fantastic. And along with the series makes it a worthwhile investment if you buy the purchase version. It just becomes tiresome being as complicated as it is. Less screens to have to advance into to obtain all the items needed to fulfill the objective three screens back becomes too cumbersome. If it wasn’t for that, and having to touch every part of the screen I would give this games series a big five star rating. The developers did well with this game except for those two elements of it. Update……I will admit that I do enjoy this game despite the complexity of it all. I’ve paid for some hints but that’s as far as I’m going to go. If I end up getting stuck I’m not going to spend anymore. I’ll walk away and maybe come back to finish later.

Every episode gets better and better! Free to play is great, but there is also a $6.99 version where you do not have to watch umpteen commercials for clues. I like to support this developer in hopes that they keep making more games! The artistry is exceptional and I love just admiring it in many of the scenes. The story keeps you guessing and is interesting. The puzzles range from simple to head scratching. The only thing I do not like about the free game is that you have to remember which of the thirty scenes you need to jump to…for many people that is part of the fun, but not for me. The paid version has a setting you can get hints at which scene you need to be at. I have a brain injury and this set of games has done more for me than most of my occupational therapy! It keeps my cognitive functioning going, holds my attention and has helped me get myself back functioning better! Keep making them please!
