Mr & Mrs Smith boutique hotels

I used Mr & Mrs Smith to book a hotel for an upcoming trip. About a week after doing so, I needed to cancel. The terms clearly stated I could cancel cost-free 48 hours ahead of check-in, and this was over a week ahead of that time. When I went to cancel, there was no button for me to click to do so, but instead I had to “request” Mr & Mrs Smith to do this for me and give them 48 hours to get back to me. I did that but also emailed the hotel directly to cancel, and it got back to me in about 30 mins to confirm the cancellation. Two days after the hotel cancelled the booking, Mr & Mrs Smith emailed me to tell me that the tax rates had changed for my upcoming hotel reservation! I emailed them back to explain the situation - and hours later got a message saying they were “backed up” on emails, and would respond to me when they could! I wrote back and asked them to please correct their records, that I had already canceled with the hotel days before. When I visited the hotel’s website, I noticed the price offered to me there was roughly $400 cheaper for the stay than Mr & Mrs Smith were charging me. Based on my experience, I don’t see any value to the service - had I worked directly with the hotel, I would have saved a significant sum and also the trouble of dealing with Mr & Mrs Smith for cancellation. I don’t see any value to the service.

Five nights at Gorgeous George did not feel like enough. This is one of the most charming hotels and the staff are absolutely the best. Having worked in luxury hospitality for 30 years I know when I write that a hotel is a winner if you can’t wait to eat in their restaurant. We actually cancelled outside dinner reservations one evening to have another dinner at GiGis. The location is perfect and the amenities in the room were lovely. Everything is well thought of. The only point I’d suggest having run restaurants and been a Food and Beverage Director is consider cloth napkins in the restaurant. The quality of the food out of the kitchen is world class but the napkins detract from it.

I selected this “home” because I was looking for a place that felt peaceful and elegant, and not too far from other activities if we ever wanted to venture out. However, we never wanted to leave!! This is the most amazing, warm and magical place I’ve ever visited. The staff is friendly and always attentive. Everything is gorgeous and super clean. The environment feels organic, luxurious, and sophisticated. Its simplicity blends in with the jungle, including friendly fauna like birds and lizards that add to the magical feel. The food is beyond amazing, with layered flavors, perfectly cooked meals, the most delicious home made granola and fresh herbs, seasonal fruits and tropical smoothies and elixirs. We were pampered at the spa with an artisanal local clay massaged lovingly onto our whole bodies - face and head included. I also asked to receive a belly massage to help my digestive system and in the end we washed the clay off in the sea. We felt deeply relaxed afterwards! My skin is glowing and moisturized after having used their honey artisanal body lotion during our stay. My spirit is renewed and I can’t wait to visit again!!! A plus is the occasional live music, and the ability to text management on staff at any hour and with all kinds of questions that were answered almost immediately. Before we left, we had a word with management to congratulate them and thank them for the outstanding hospitality. They explained that to them, this place is not a “hotel”, but a home. One where guests can discover magic. We sure did!
