I just purchased the microphones and began experimenting with the app and my first reaction was, Wow! This is remarkable and extremely useful. Very easy to start working. One thing that was disheartening is that there isn’t currently and option differentiate mic GAIN vs mic VOLUME. Once my ideal gain is set, you would think you would also have a separate option to now control the volume of the mic, but sadly it is all in one. The reason that this is a problem is, I can’t increase the volume of the microphone without also increasing the volume of ambient surroundings, which obviously is not the goal in mind. I’d love to see gain and volume levels being independent. Now here’s what could simply take this app to the next level. Granted I do work in an audio production environment, however, if there was a gate, more customizable compressor. Man it would be game changing. If nothing else the gate. I know there is a noise reduction option, but having a gate function could really let you tune in everything all in the app without having to worry about post production.

Your latest version 3.2.3 has a bug. With the MV88 connected to my iPhone 12Pro Max/iOS 14.6, upon launching the App all appears normal. But as soon as I minimize the App to do something else like open my camera, the Motiv App changes and reverts to the “Preview Mode” of the App which basically means you cannot do any audio recordings with the App or make any recording setting changes that you would normally find in the “Device” section of the App. It will remain stuck on this mode until you close the App then re-open it. This had me confused before I figured out what was going on. I thought maybe you were forcing everybody to switch to a pay version of the App! Basically the work around right now is to close the App then re-open it (while having the MV88 connected). Please fix this annoying problem! Update 9JUL2021: A special thank you to the developer, you read my problem and fixed it with the latest update version 3.2.4 on the same day! An uncommon gift, can’t ask for more than that! Thank you! To be clear, when you minimize the Motiv screen, it still reverts to the “Discover Shure Motiv Microphones” promotional screen. However, as soon as you bring it back to the front it immediately switches to the proper “Device” screen where you can make all your changes/adjustments. I’ve had this Mic (Mv88) and supporting app for quite some time and I have to tell you it was very frustrating because all I was hearing was buzzing and clicking, bzbzbzbzbzb click click click bzbzbzbzbtttt on my recordings. It was really annoying and I wanted the mic to work so badly. I kept trying everything I could. I’ve seen posts from other people on different forums and suggestions from Shure stating that it was necessary to turn the phone on to “airplane mode” in order for it to work and not get interference. I was doing that and I was wondering why I was continuing to have a problem where buzzing and clicking would appear on my recordings. I thought Shure was dropping the ball. I am here to apologize and state that they didn’t drop the ball I believe it was Apple that dropped the ball. What happened was, around iOS update 11, Apple change the way airplane mode turns on and turns off your data. Such as Wi-Fi, data, and Bluetooth, now when you press the airplane mode button it may not actually turn off Wi-Fi and Bluetooth as well. So you have to check this out. Make sure that they actually are off. Once I found this out I retested the mic and the apps for the mic and I have to say it sounds fantastic. I still have some issues with the Mike design in that it’s heavy and sometimes disconnects from the phone. I also think the app doesn’t work the same way in portrait mode as it does in landscape mode. I find that to be a problem. So I’m not giving everything a five star yet. But I’ve upped it from One star to four stars and with apologies. So, again, make sure, if you’re using this app with that microphone (MV88), that you not only turn The airplane mode on, you make sure that Wi-Fi and Bluetooth have been shut off as well.
