The app is great when it is working properly. Once again I found out that the indoor unit model number had just disappeared from my settings on one unit, this has happened several times. I also now have 2 units that show the temperature in half degrees, first one then months later the second and the setting to turn this on/off will not stay on the off setting. The ability to setup unlimited routines is great but it would be great to be able to maybe skip them or unselect for example when itβs a warm day in winter and I donβt want the heat on. The countdown timer function is great but again you can only set it to turn off, would be nice to also set it to turn on
Considering how much extra you have to pay to have Wi-Fi added to a Mitsubishi air-con units it is VERY disappointing how poor the app is. I have found the biggest problem is lack of communication or updating between the AC unit & the app. If you set the temperature via the app and someone then adjusts the temperature using the remote control the app will not register the change. Example - one of our units had been set to 23. On a hot day someone then used the remote to dial it down to 18. The app continued to register 23. For nearly a week the unit was running 10 hours a day at 18 degrees. I only found this out by chance when I picked up the remote. This is a major flaw and renders the app totally unreliable for managing your AC systems if settings can be overridden via the remote and this does not update in the app.
This is a great if very basic remote for my homes ducted climate. Being a Mitsubishi Heavy Industries product I knew it would be efficient and reliable, it is in fact best in class with performance at least in the case of my mr slim units and oh so quiet too. The wi-fi and a/c unit have perfect 2 way communication and you have the actual status of the unit anytime the app is opened and without any lag or delay at all. I purchased the controller after some research for around $250 and after reading the instructions like a good Boy Scout, the communication port was relatively easy to find on the circuit board with a torch and plug in the controller. I was hoping Mitsubishi would add support for Alexa given it is now 2019 and Iβve had this unit for 5 years now, alas they have not as they use proprietary red link technology but a genius at a third party company came up with one and I could be more delighted. I can quite literally just say Alexa turn on the climate control and thatβs it. She can control all other aspects but generally set at 24 so I rarely need to change but have the ability to do so simply with my voice via Alexa. I know everyone mentions the basic functionality and I do agree but in reality what exactly is it you want your reverse cycle a/c to do. It is after all designed to keep you warm in winter and cool in summer and does exactly that. βPerfectlyβ
