LoJack

While the concept is good considering that the GMC I just bought is one of the top stolen vehicles in America, the execution could use an update when compared to the last GMC Dealership tracking service where I purchased my Yukon. I’ve had the truck about a week now and have driven it frequently while making plenty of stops (setting geofences) and the quickest notification that the vehicle moved is 15 minutes. Earlier today it was 2 hours. If a vehicle is stolen, time is of the essence and even 15 minutes is too long. Also, having to set up geofences every time you stop is annoying and you can only save up to 3 at a time. My Yukon has Apex Security formerly known as SafePoint GPS. You do not have to set up Geofences, you can set it to alert you every time your car moves and it takes about 2 minutes to get a notification. You can actually see your car in motion and the speed in real time in the app as well. I didn’t have a choice in GPS tracking when purchasing this truck but had high hopes for LoJack. Unfortunately, the cons do not outweigh the pros in the app. Hopefully, they can figure out how to upgrade their response time in regards to the notifications and make a live view. To supplement, I added several air tags for a quick accurate locator. I’m sure you’re thinking that this is overkill but earlier this year our brand new truck was stolen and OnStar was disconnected immediately and the truck didn’t come with GPS so it was a loss. The process of dealing with something like a stolen car is frustrating, time consuming and very inconvenient and not something I want to go through again anytime soon. So, yeah, I think this could definitely be better with a few upgrades and could possibly help them recover a car and sooner, hence saving LoJack a lot of money.

I was never comfortable with the idea of being tracked by GPS at all times, but I let my mom push me into paying for LoJack when I got my new car this year. I ended up eating my words when my car was stolen in the early hours of the morning yesterday. I’d never signed into LoJack before but I was able to get the app configured even though my car was gone! I was able to see exactly where the thieves had taken my car, and with law enforcement’s help we were able to track them down. The whole ordeal took around two hours. Before I told dispatch about the LoJack tracker, they basically told me to kick rocks and to call them back in a few hours. Anything can happen in a few hours, but thanks to LoJack I was able to get my baby back safe and sound. Cannot recommend this system enough!!!

Such a great company and app! Beginning with the app: it is simple and easy to understand, there are great features such a speed alerts, geofencing, and low battery alerts. The most helpful for me have been the geofencing and battery alerts. The app alerted me that my cars battery was low even before I started witnessing symptoms of it being weak, thus I was able to act on this without the usual unexpected difficulties of jumpstarting due to a low battery. Next the company behind this app has been of phenomenal help! I purchased a used car that had this LoJack system installed. After a month or so the app would not update the cars location on demand, and it would take days to update the location of the car. Communication via email with the company resulted in a technician coming out replacing my LoJack unit in the vehicle, subsequently got set up with a new account on the app and everything has been working seamlessly since! Thanks LoJack!
