This is a really good Korean learning app. If you’re trying to stop using Duolingo, this is a great replacement. Really clear audio examples and fun, interactive app. Has clear breakdowns of the language and how different words are used. Only problem is it REALLY is not designed for Bluetooth users. The delay in Bluetooth headphones means I often miss the beginnings of words that I need to spell. If you get this app, you gotta use wired headphones. Also sometimes the ads make the app crash. Otherwise my Korean has never been better!
I have been using this app for several months now and I love it! However after an update a few weeks ago I can no longer view the sentence section of lesson summaries. I always add the vocab, grammar, and sentences to my study notebook before doing the actual lesson, but the other day when I went to open the sentence section in the summary for the lesson I’m on it was blank and had a grey rectangle covering most of the screen. I thought it could be just that lesson, but sentence section has the same grey box and is blank for all of the lesson summaries, including ones I’ve completed before. It makes me sad because I always organize my notes the exact same way and don’t want to move on in my learning until I can add the sentences to my notes for my current lesson. I gave it 4 stars still because I really enjoy this app and until now haven’t had any issues. I know bugs happen from time to time so I really hope this gets fixed soon.
I like that Lingory taught a small selection of vocabulary and a small grammar lesson each day. I like that there was a separate section to learn additional vocabulary and verbs. I thought it was an interesting detail that the word-building activities pronounced the batchim differently before and after the word was built, but I’m not sure how batchim rules were taught because I placed I to level 95 or so. It’s also ad-supported and I appreciated that the ads weren’t super long. However, I had problems with the app audio sounding muffled from the first time I downloaded it. Within the same lesson some words/sentences would play clearly from the bottom speaker (the one that is activated while on speaker phone), while many others would only play from the speaker used when you’re actually having a phone conversation. I messaged Lingory about it many times and, ultimately, all they told me was to clear my cached data in the app (I did that and nothing improved) and that my phone was messed up (while not asking me about what kind of phone or OS it was running to see if it was something occurring across platforms or what) so there was nothing they could do. My phone is pretty new, undamaged, and has had no issues with the sound on any other app—before, during or after the time I was using the Lingory app. Since they couldn’t help me I deleted it. So, I hope the sound works for you, but, if not, I don’t know how well they’ll be able to help you.
