kawaiiNihongo - Learn Japanese

I used to play this, starting around when I learned the Hiragana alphabet. I haven't played it much since I've been busy with college, but I added it to my new phone today (my old phone didn't have enough storage for it), and I was impressed!! They've made the app a lot better! I loved the app before, and it really is useful to learn and then practice characters and words (with games!), but it was still a little lacking in structure. I would always get frustrated because as a Caucasian (although female), I would always try to do the surveys (because I love surveys, and you get coins from them anyway) but was denied in just a few questions (because I wasn't Hispanic or whatnot). I always wondered why they didn't just keep our responses so that I wouldn't have to keep saying what race I was (it's not like my race is going to change), but it seems like they do that now!! I think today was the first time I was actually able to go through an entire survey and get the coins from it! I really am very grateful that I can finally take part in some of the surveys! The storyline, as well — before, it was just in the introduction (as far as I got, at least), but now it seems like there's actually a story that they follow through on. I'm so happy to finally get an explanation of Riko-chan! I do miss the initial order of the words of the first character to the last one, but it is a lot more organized now. That change was made a while ago, I know, but I thought it was worth mentioning. Overall, I think it's a very good app to begin learning with!

Coming from somebody who almost never writes reviews, this app is amazing. LingoDeer and Duolingo are great and all that, but this lets you review until you fully understand, where those apps expect you to know it right away. If I need to restart the lesson I can just exit out, but in Duolingo it will start the next part of the lesson if my phone turns off while I do something quickly and it won’t let me go back. I didn’t fully understand how to draw the characters on Duolingo or LingoDeer because it basically did it for you instead of giving you a free space and a comparison for you to decide if you did it properly. I really like that it lets you go at your own pace and flip cards when you’ve listened enough, while showing you how to draw them as well. I honestly think this is the BEST app for beginners, as I am one myself, because it teaches you in order and gives you fun ways to memorize stuff(like the arcade). Duolingo literally taught me the number seven before the number one, and the word cow before a greeting. It’s not like they were going in order of the Hiragana, they literally taught you them at random. The format is all over the place and very confusing for beginners. Some of the grammar is wrong and in the same area it will go from extremely easy to super hard. When you run out of energy it doesn’t even let you review what you’ve already done, where this app does and it’s very helpful to memorize. Even if you don’t want to review you can watch a short ad, and be right back. I love this app and highly recommend it to anybody who wants to commit to Japanese. (〃ω〃)

I don’t typically write reviews but this app deserve one. This app is very good even if you don’t pay for no advertisements and other thing the app offers. My favorite thing about the app is that it lets you say yes or no, that way you don’t lose a heart. With other apps that I use for Japanese don’t give you an option. In the arcade, there are mini games for practicing Kanji. In the school, you can look at any Kanji you need to. Then there’s the lessons. If you’re not confident and going into the next lesson it lets you go back and review the last lesson. It also has a calendar to track the Japanese you’ve learned throughout the year. You’re able to earn badges from your daily streaks .You can set a goal for how much you wants to learn daily. For example, I have mine app 100 a day. Out of all the other apps I’ve use, this one works the best for learning Japanese. ( Sorry if I miss spelled anything)
