Carrier® Côr™ Thermostat

The actual thermostat has many functions. The previous Carrier Cor app for this thermostat allowed the user to access most of the functions of the thermostat. This new app allows for only basic thermostat control. I paid well over $300 for the thermostat in 2017. It was worth it because of its many functions, such as dehumidification temperature setback. As an example of loss of functionality, when away from the physical thermostat for months at a time, this newley designed app does not allow the user to access that function. Since Carrier has now proven that they won’t support an app for more than a few years, my next system and thermostat will not be a Carrier thermostat, and therefore I will not purchase another Carrier AC/Heating system when I need to replace. This new app puts the user back into the caveman era.

We bought the thermostat with new furnace/AC system in part because the accompanying app mirrored the wall stat display for ease of use. Rather than make the app compatible with latest iOS, Carrier trashed the original app and replaced it with this new limited one with different GUI. It functions, but not as well. For example, it is not intuitively clear what is the setpoint vs actual temperature when looking at the display. "Heating" means it's in heating mode, not that the furnace is actively running (like the actual wall display shows). Same for cooling. Maintenance reminders, humidity setpoints and many more features seem to have been abandoned in this dumbed-down version. Disappointing, but better than no iOS control at all.

The updated app is terrible! You can’t set your temp it has to be a broad number and not just one temperature. I don’t want my setting from 75* to 78* or 76* to 79*. I want one temperature consistent. This is the worst app I have ever seen. Plus after it was updated and been a pain for several days it just quit and turned off my AC! I had to call for service! Terrible idea and someone should be fired.
