Like so many other users have noted, the orientation for viewing the camera live view no longer provides control to the user, when using device in landscape view. In order to see the full scope of the camera view, I must now turn my iPad to portrait view. This is VERY inconvenient when I need to see the activity right away. Many people choose to use their tablets in landscape view and most every app I have accommodates that choice. Ring used to. This must be corrected. Additionally, I must use the snooze feature daily for my Chime Pro. Years ago I could chose how long the snooze should be on, from 30 minutes to 12 hours. For quite some time, the choices available omit 5, 6, and 7 hour increments. I need 6 hours. How can you possibly assume people do not need some flexibility when using the snooze feature? I decided to voice this concern since it seems to not be an issue for others. As for the AI adds, I agree with other reviewers that their placement is not preferable and can hinder when one is trying to connect to a camera/doorbell and respond through the camera. My devices are much older and should not have any AI capabilities, and even if they do, I will not allow that to be turned on. I do not allow Alexa, Siri, Grok, or any other non human computer program in my home or vehicles, and quite frankly, never intend to do so. The Ring system we have used is to protect our home from any threats, not to invite them in on a red carpet by the same Ring system.
I get a lot of false motions which makes the battery die fast. Wedge didn’t change anything, made 0 difference. The live view never connects when I need it to. It takes about 3 or 4 minutes and multiple app restarts to connect if it decides to connect at all. I have 250mbps internet and the modem is not that far away from the door where the ring is. It’s honestly caused more of an annoyance than anything. Having a video door bell doesn’t do much good if I can’t connect to it when someone is at the door. I’ve been using Ring since July of this year (2018) and have had to recharge it 4 times already after it draining to critically low. I’ve adjusted every setting and have tried every combination and nothing makes a difference. I still get motion alerts every 5 minutes and the worse part is each motion notification comes twice. I don’t know how much longer I can deal with this. Update: September 2019.. Over a year later and if anything the app is even worse. There’s no volume more times than not (assuming live view loads at all). Ring does a lot of updates for the app but I’ve seen zero improvement. What’s an update if it doesn’t do anything, now I have the same problems as before and then some.
I purchased a ring 2 doorbell. I also purchased 3 of the ring flood light cams. I installed the doorbell but not the floodlights. Installation of the doorbell was very easy. I replaced the ring doorbell with my previous doorbell using the existing wires. The doorbell works like a doorbell, however, all I have is an expensive doorbell. I installed the app on my iPhone. I receive motion events and doorbell alerts on my iPhone, however I cannot answer the doorbell from my iPhone. The app is very slow. All I see is a spinning circle on a blank screen. The app has never allowed me to answer the the doorbell. I can view motion events long after the fact. The motion events are choppy, not very clear, and the audio is extremely poor. My doorbell is only 15 feet away (through the wall of plastic, wood, and drywall) from my router. I called ring. They had me conduct some tests. The technician determined that the WiFi signal was not good at the front door. The technician said I needed a WiFi extender and would send me one. If that doesn’t work I will return my ring products and look for another solution. The ring products are not cheap. I expected more. Ring support was responsive, but could not resolve my WiFi issue with the ring doorbell. I have an expensive doorbell. It rings when someone pushes the button but I do not receive the ring alert on my phone until long after the person is gone. Some local girls were selling Girl Scout cookies. They were at my door for at least a minute and a half. I did not receive the ring alert until many minutes after they left. I would not waste my money on this product.
