About Track Gently
Track Gently is a pedometer and location tracker that is gentle on your iPhone’s battery. It is designed to be used for extended periods without heavily using your battery. You can keep it running all the time.
*Note, Track Gently only functions on newer iPhones that have a step counter built into the accelerometer (such as the iPhone 5S and later).
Features:
•Counts your steps, estimated distance, floors climbed, calories burned, all without the GPS.
•Generates GPX (GPS Exchange Format) files for use in apps such as Google Earth.
•Shows nearby Wikipedia Entries
•Keeps tracks of which cities you have been to
•Uses the built in step counter (pedometer) in most iPhone's.
•Why use the pedometer instead of the GPS for distance? Believe it or not, the pedometer is often at least as accurate as the GPS if not more so. This is most evident in areas with poor GPS reception such as inside buildings, in the mountains, or cities with tall buildings.
•Keeps daily, weekly, and intra-day totals
•Easy enough on your battery to keep running in the background for extended periods such as an entire day or longer.
•To estimate the distance walked, you can either manually enter your walking stride or use the app to estimate it.
+ Compares your achievements based on the distance walked, floors climbed/descended, and calories burned compared to landmarks in the world and delicious food and drink.
With the GPS enabled:
•Plots your locations upon a map.
•Has a high-accuracy location mode when required.
•Since continued use of GPS running in the background can decrease battery life, you can decrease GPS accuracy or even disable the GPS to increase battery life (and the pedometer will continue to function).
•In-app help available.
•Remembers your settings
•Supports Metric and Imperial (English) measurements
