AmberDraw: Animated Drawing

I wanted to write a review, because I can see how much potential this app has, and I also see people just writing “it’s bad because it’s paid.” as an artist I’m actually excited to see this app develop, and I will be keeping it on my phone to see how it’s going. right now I cannot recommend it; this is an art app that does not function like an art app. as far as I can see; the eraser does not function like a eraser tool, as it only erases your entire stroke, not parts of the drawing like a normal art app. every time I close and reopen the app, my art could be there or it could not. there is no way to easily resize your brush. there is no undo/redo button. when doing lineart with sharp angles, the brushes struggle to stay accurate. there is no bucket tool, and the brush tool struggles to fill in large areas. I am pointing out all of these things and giving the app a 2 star rating, as I want to see it get better and I hope that the dev sees and maybe can make some changes to make the app better 🙏

I’m starting to use now. Interesting tool. A couple observations and suggestions: 1- no subscription option. If compared to procreate, how about a one time purchase option? 2-export options would be great. I’d love an option to export png sequence w/ alpha channel. Also to be able to export to folders, not only to photo app. 3- layers. I see others have mentioned and you’ve said that’s in future plans 4-option to setup project dimensions etc. 5- I like scribble, color noise and jitter brushes best because of their more random analog ‘feel’. Is it possible to introduce a parameter for that sort of ‘random’ edge or shape to other brushes? 6-can you post a website link so we can know more about the developer? Who they are, where they’re based, other tools they may have worked on and any tips/instruction/info on amberdraw app. W/out this I was hesitant to try app. Usually avoid apps without more info - could be virus/spam. I can see using this app integrated into other projects. I tend to work across apps and then composite the footage from different apps together in after effects. That’s why the export options (point #2) are relevant and important to me. Cheers and keep up the good work on this app.

Love the idea behind the app, truly do. However, it is lacking in the variety department. There are no layers. There is no transparency or duplicating options. There are not a lot of brushes or canvas size options. The app does not have a selection, warping tool or bucket tool. Photo inserting while drawing is not available either. Don’t get me wrong, I do not hate the app. I just wish it had more options or features. Speaking of features it does have, I would like to mention that although it can be helpful for an erase tool to automatically delete a whole stroke, it would be nice if users had the option to do selective erasing. I’d also like to bring up how some of the brushes are locked. Could you potentially lean into the possibility of AD viewing for specifically locked options. Basically a person is given the option to view an AD rather than a week trial. After viewing the AD, the user can use a tool or feature for let’s say 20-30mins. Once the time passes they can either watch another AD to continue using it or pay to buy it. Either way, you are earning some kind of revenue, which I know most companies want. All in all, if you look at other drawing apps, such as Procreate or IbisPaint, you’ll have a better understanding of what else to add to your current app. I’m being sincere when I say that if you add more features, your app will grow exponentially.
