Selleb

Before Selleb, I’d always crowdsource recommendations from friends for big purchases. There are a few people whose opinions I really trust but, but sometimes I need more niche advice (like for skincare, homeware, or gifts) which isn’t always easy to find in my immediate circle. I love Selleb because it gives me access to a broader community of second- and third-degree connections whose taste I can trust. It’s so intuitive to scroll through someone’s profile and see what they’ve actually bought. Now, I never make a big purchase without browsing Selleb first.

been beta testing this for a while - Selleb is the social shopping app I didn’t know I needed. It’s so refreshing to see what people actually buy, not just paid promotions. Truly a simple but genius concept! I’ve already discovered a few hidden gems just by scrolling through people’s hauls — everything from snacks to tech to skincare. The interface is clean, smooth, and easy to navigate, and uploading receipts is super straightforward. it’s so fun - would give it 10/5 stars if i could!

Definitely a neat concept; if I could use the app. After downloading, you’re forced to turn on notifications in order for the “notify me” pop up to go away. While you can go through iOS settings and turn off notifications, turning them off in the app renders the app unusable. I’m someone who does not like notifications, so this prompts an extra step for me to turn them off. I also fail to see why emails have to be forwarded, or allowing your app to scan my email for receipts. Users should just be able to load a screen cap of a receipt after removing any and all PII including potential tracking details, real names and addresses, last four digits of credit card details, etc. While the app may have “Read Only” access, this could open users up to potential security issues. I’d rethink the email only access from a security perspective before moving out of Beta mode.
