Reviews: What People Think About Creality Scan

This app is totally broken in the iOS systems I have tried with it. Formerly an iPhone 13 Pro Max with several versions of iOS did not work. The system will easily connect to the CR Ferret Pro WiFi network. But when a new scan is initiated, the app states “Please connect the scanner”. A new iPhone 16 Pro with iOS 18 connects easily with the WiFi but errors with the same problem. I find it totally incomprehensible that Creality has not fixed this problem. The scanner is marketed as compatible with iOS, but it clearly is not. It works well with the MacOS, but without access to it with an iPhone, its usefulness is extremely limited. Therefore I cannot recommend anyone to purchase this scanner for use with iOS.

For what ever reason my otter lite scanner isn’t connecting to the scan app. I connected to the otter’s wifi hot spot, the app just doesn’t see it. Not sure what else there is to do. It does work with my computer, but the whole point of the product is that it’s mobile and that you can use your phone, perhaps my phone is too old?. Yea the lite bridge attachment has a battery but what’s the point if I have to keep it connected to my computer. Perhaps If I fully charge the bridge and do a full power reboot something will change. (Update) I got it to work by also connecting a usb-c and lighting cable (depending on how new your phone is) after connecting the cable to both the iPhone and the otter lite while also connecting to the otter’s WiFi, the app connected to the scanner and allowed me to scan some stuff. So perhaps it’s not just the WiFi you need to connect, there also has to be a physical connection to both phone and scanner as well.

I am using this app in an iPhone 14 Pro connected to a Ferret Pro scanner. It works great, I have scanned dozens of things from medium size complicated to medium and simple, to small. Please know that if you read the specs and/or watch enough reviews, you will find that only the Pro model of the Ferret line works with iPhone because they need the WiFi bridge that it comes with. So that’s the setup I have and I haven’t had a single hitch. I love being able to scan without bringing my laptop and having a bunch of cables to deal with. The processing time can be in the range of a minute or two with larger and more complicated models, but it works. Also, try a few different settings. I’ve found that “texture” tracking is more reliable than “geometry” tracking, even when the item to me seems heavy on geometry and light on texture. Sometimes it’s taken a few tries to get a successful scan without losing tracking, but for a cheap scanner using the processing power of a phone I’m impressed. Much better than Kiri or Polycam, both of which I tried.
