I downloaded and got the pro version of this app a while ago, and I am impressed by it's powerful capabilities. You can set up more than just a single Downtime with this app. Imagine having lots of Downtimes at different times of the day, each one having a group of apps, like social media and entertainment, blocked during the period that you set. The app can go further with the power of Shortcuts. I mostly use this app to block apps while a focus is turned on, since most of my focus settings have scheduled times anyway. And even though this app doesn't sync to the cloud, I can set the same groups of apps to be blocked when a focus is turned on across multiple devices, so when I turn on a focus, the same groups of apps can be blocked, this works because focus settings can be set up to sync across iCloud. I have a suggestion, it would be nice to lock my settings with a passcode and prevent the app from being deleted. Overall, this is an awesome productivity tool that I will use throughout my day, along with what's already available with the default Screen Time capabilities.
This app is the best for any screen time management. I was finding no apps that were in my price range that had features I needed. This app has triggers that activate when an app is used for a certain amount of time, and triggers for a schedule, but the best part is Shortcuts integration. This allows you to turn on and off blocking for the apps you want basically however you wanted to, like by location or through any Shortcut. I am more than happy to support this app, and I will recommend it to anyone who wants to have some type of customized screen time solution. Especially with the price being the cheapest, it’s just the best option. It isn’t the prettiest, but it gets the job done. There was one thing I wanted to ask the developers for, when I said it wasn’t the prettiest. The design of the screen that pops up when you open a restricted app doesn’t look great. There’s a lot of text that just doesn’t seem to have a purpose, and the logo being front and center bugs me. The app still works, and I’d take this app over any other app for screen time management, but please make it look nicer. Maybe remove the logo, or just say it’s blocked without so much additional text.
I tried several apps for app blocking, before coming across Burnout Buddy. Honestly I was oddly, initially deterred from trying the app because of the hokey app icon, but was pleasantly surprised by what it had to offer when I finally gave it a shot. In terms of the free portion of this app it offers way more functionality than others that also have a free option. I am not sure that I really needed the premium version, but purchased it as I believe the developer created a truly helpful app that could possibly make a very positive impact for many. Not only that, the one time fee for the Premium version was so reasonable, I purchased it, really as a thank you for making such a great app available for anyone…and the Premium version even lets me change the app icon😊. Thanks again Burnout Buddy!
